Nick @ Prodrive,
THANK YOU!
A thoroughly fantastic evening.
Please thank everyone at Prodrive.
Are you likely to do this again in the future?
Would it be possible to see more areas, such as paintshop and assembly? Some of the testing (eg dampers) would be good as well, although I can imagine that this might be confidential.
Again, THANK YOU - and I hope you make you £10k target for Children in Need. (if you're short, let us know - I'd defintely pay another £20 for a second visit!!)
Richard

I'm taking my digital camera so that has lots of memory to take loads of photos. We are going for my sisters birthday present (she is nuts about scoobs & Burns) so hopefully this will be the best present I can give her
and the fact that the money goes to charity is ![Cool](images/smilies/cool.gif)

Thanks

Paul,
Seriously, you'll love it. She won't be disappointed!
They're so professional, the whole place oozes with style.
Everywhere is immaculate, and the cars are, well... incredible!
Danny, the guy who took us around, was very knowledgable, and was quite happy for us to ask stupid questions and take lots of photographs. However, make sure you ask before you take pictures in each different area, as you're not allowed to take pictures in certain areas. (We couldn't take pictures of the SWRT engines or gear boxes, or in the engine and gearbox assembly area)
We got to see (what's left of) Petter car from RallyGB.
They are in the process of dismantling it, so the engine and bonnet had already gone, plus the back bumper.
Wonder what state it'll be in when you go!
Let us know how you get on and what you think!
It was amazing!

Just to let you know that the painting process takes place off-site, so unfortunately it is not possible to arrange a tour of this facility.
With regard to the assembly, you probably saw most of it last night, I assume with the exception of composites (that's carbon fibre to you and me!) and the Test Team workshop which is off-limits for ALL non-essential personnel (and yes, that does include me
)
p.s. Another date has been added for the Children in Need appeal which is not yet fully booked.
pp.s. Keep an eye on the Prodrive website. In a couple of weeks it will be updated to include the dates of monthly tours which are due to take place. £20 each, money given to charity, first come first served etc.
Nick.

PaulPalmer,
No, nowhere to buy souvenirs...![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Don't forget, they don't normally do tours - so it's certainly not geared up for "tourists" - which is a good thing!!
Prodrive do give free gifts to everyone who goes though - which is very generous of them.![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
We got a Prodrive corporate brochure, SWRT merchandise catalgoue, and a SWRT promotional gift set, which is basically a keyring and an LED pen! (oh yeah, plus a cup of coffee and a biscuit in their very swanky board room.)![Cool](images/smilies/cool.gif)
The evening starts with a presentation on Prodrive (they do a lot more than just Subaru!) before going on a tour of various parts of their facility and then going into their heritage area.
Trust me, you'll both enjoy!
You could always order something for her from
if you want to get her an extra gift.
Have a great time, and let us know what you think!

Hi Kevin,
Lucky you!!
Was yours the 03 plate?
Think you manoeuvred around my mates Forester when you were parking?
Sounds absolutely great - does it have the PPP?
Wish I could afford/justify one. I've got a 51 plate GX, which is great - but by comparison....
It's not just the buying - it's the insuring which is a huge issue!
Don't think my missus would be too happy!
I'll be sorting out the pix at the weekend, so mail me beginning of next week. (address is on a previous post further up the page...)
Cheers,
Rich

I'll own up to the blue sti that was parked next to the Etheridge E*O.
Here are some low-res pics of the 17th evening. I'm sure most of you that were there are on them.
I've got them all in high-res and will keep them on disk for a week, so if you want any then let me know.
- Mark.

Richard,
Yep mine was the 03 plate with the PPP, the insurance was quite reasonable considering I live on the Essex/London border and only a few pounds more than the TT/Elise that I had before.
Mark,
Great pictures, shame some fool (me!) got in the way of the one with the your son and the BAR, I’ll put my Paintshop hat on later and get rid of myself!
Cheers,

Mark,
Excellent pictures! (except the one where I'm looking really gormless behind Petters car!
)
I wish I'd spent more time looking inside Petter's car - I didn't spot the headphones when I was there!
Kevin,
Very nice car indeed... maybe one day I'll have an STi of my own!![Cool](images/smilies/cool.gif)

I am off there tonight - looking forward to it. Hope to see a few other scoobynetters there.
I am travelling down from Cheshire, so don't let them start without me!

What a cracking visit - top marks to Prodrive and the guy who was showing us around. Very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.
I was the donkey who turned up late (Birmingham traffic) - and I told you all not to let them start without me.
I will post pics soon.

PS anything signed by Petter could be worth double after his winning the Rally and Championship this weekend
