Yup, thats what I was thinking Andy?

No one offered the GEM's ECU on it's own without the mapping being done as part of the Group Buy.
That was only possibilities I was looking into, but can confirm it is not an option now.

GEMS UK are keen to ensure that all the systems supplied for this group buy are mapped correctly and to this end will only supply through Steve as he is their official agent.
This is also reflected in the group buy price

No problem CataIunya
GEMS's main market is Motorsport.
This is a very unique group buy, that only Steve is offering in conjunction with GEMS UK.

Chris has been looking for a second hand unit for a couple of months now?
They are "VERY" hard to source used.

Windows you are implying something that is incorrect. Steve has a history of working with gems and so they offer him preferential pricing from which they precluded myself and others, however they do supply (and support as far as I need them) ecu's etc to us for install and remap like any other company, its the same with BRD and Link, the pricing we get is far better than any normal outlet as we are Links designated European distributer and we carry out the support role on their behalf to boot. Thats why when I mailed windows, as well as the Gems discount I offered to the group I also offered a Link based group buy discount for those that couldn't afford the gems.

At the time I mailed windows I commented that I thought Steve would be able to offer better pricing, thats not an issue or a suprise.

So gents please don't get into a war of innuendo here, Steve offered the best price based on his costs.

sorry for the post but its better to be clear and open about the circumstances.

cheers to all

bob

Hi Bob,

Windows you are implying something that is incorrect.
Are you sugesting that Steve is "not" the offical agent for GEMS UK, and GEMS UK are "not" keen to ensure that all the systems supplied for this group buy are mapped correctly and to this end will only supply through Steve as he is their official agent.?

You may want to contact Steve to clarify this, as I havent made any implications.

Sorry if I have misunderstood you here, but I would just like to clear this up.

Theres no war of innuendo here Bob!!!

Cool

The group buy prices are as follows

All prices are installed and mapped by Steve Simpson and include AIT in intercooler.

1.All models to 96 MY(4 plug ECU) up to 1.2 Bar : £1200 + VAT
2.All models to 96 MY(4 plug ECU) over 1.2 Bar :£1250 + VAT (Delco 3 Bar map sensor)
3.All models 97-98 MY (3 plug ECU) up to 1.8 Bar :£1100 + VAT
4.All models 99-00MY on (3 grey plug ECU) up to 1.8 Bar £1300 + VAT
5.All models 01-03 MY (5 white plug ECU) with 3 bar sensor : £1395 + VAT

1 - 5 all have ALS, water spray/injection control, closed loop boost control (3D map),individual cylinder fuelling and ignition.
4 + 5 also have launch control, switchable fuel maps (say Optimax and normal unleaded etc..), mappable ECD if fitted to gearbox, closed loop idle speed control, active knock correction.

Steve can install and map the ECU at Townend Garage or at the your home - whichever is most convenient for you (the customer)
If he has to travel he will charge £0.15p per mile to cover running costs.

Townend Garage is in Lancashire

This above prices are for a minimum order of 15.

So far we have 7 definate's for the group buy,

I think the confusion arose because it wasn't clear that Bob had provided a more expensive quote for the GEMS mapping.

Guys can you please start a new thread and contact Bob for prices if you want to do a group buy on Link ECU's.
I am only concerned with aranging a group buy on GEMS ECU's at the best prices

As I've said a few times now, Steve's offer was the best.
I cant realy make that any more easier to understand.
Steve offered the best prices for the group buy!
I have spoke to Bob and Mike for the past week, and I thank them very much for their time and effort.
I have tried not to post any information which I think is irrelivent to the success of this group buy which included the circumstances of why other "suppliers" were not chosen.

I knew though that Steve would probably be the one we would be dealing with when the reply I got from GEMS UK themselves asked me to contact Steve himself.

Hi Windows just a quick question will there be a cost increase for doing a dual fuel map on my 97 STI Type R as I take it I fall into category 3 also if I can get a few guys in the northeast to meet at a local garage up here would the travelling expenses of Steve be spread equally between us. Also when is the closing date of this offer

Steve has this group buy and I have no interest in muddying the waters, to say that Steve is the "official agent" implied that he was the only person dealing in gems, clearly not so as I know of at least three others besides myself who are also involved.

Windows ... its your group buy and you are entitled to post as you see fit but ... for the sake of clarity I would not like to see an inference that Steve is exclusive for Gems, competition makes for a better deal for the customer, thats what has happened with this group buy has it not. Steve and I "correspond", he has helped me and I have helped him in the past, there is no axe to grind and he and I understand each other very well.

To anyone interested in Link group buy then someone needs to step up and organise BUT .. as windows has requested please take it to another thread, i am off on some holiday for the next 10 days as of Thursday but would be pleased to discuss this on return.

Windows ... re w of e ... I was heading off a potential, this was not aimed at you in any way.

Hi All,

Reply from Steve......

1.Sorry, I can't do credit cards - but a cheque is fine.
2.Yes, the antilag switch is included in price - there are no hidden extras!!
3.If the cars are all running well - then should be able to do 2 per day - maybe 3 if we work late! What I mean by cars running well is that all the common Impreza faults need to be eliminated prior to mapping ;coil packs on early cars, fuel pumps - which can struggle above 1.2 bar if they are getting tired -, new spark plugs etc.I would recommend that all the customers fit a uprated pump unless the car is relatively new prior to doing the work - but I usually talk through this with the customer before we do the job to get a little history on the car, and then advise accordingly.
4.I am normally booked out 2-3 weeks in advance, so once we have the "critical mass" then we will be looking at starting after this period.
