I have a mate who's a puff - he lives in Brighton too; lovely chap!

Went ballistic with Amex as I have a high cost card with them that rolls in all kinds of services. When the holiday all went all to **** and it cost me £1k to get home cos the taxi crashed they didn't want to know on this 'premium' insurance - couldnt give a toss how you got home in a crisis....

I got it in the end, but what a bloody effort, and glad I can write OK in English-ish...

Dell. I ordered my PDA over a month ago and I still haven't seen it. They've screwed up the delivery to my house on 5 occasions already, and I'm not expected them to appear on Saturday as they promised. I've actually stayed in on two evenings between 5 and 10 only to have noone turn up.

This is all because you're not allowed to pick their deliveries up from the depot "for security reasons". I pressed them on this, asking how they catered for those customers who actually have to work during the week for a living, and they said the rule was for insurance reasons - "in case I broke my leg on the way to the depot." Hmm, really

IKEA for delivering furniture a seven weeks early to a house I hadn't actually completed on and forced the 15 year old daughter of that family to take in my furniture.

SKY - biggest bunch of shysters I have EVER experienced. Seven attempts to get them to fit the dish, renaged promises, incorrect kit and they drilled a hole in the WRONG WALL of my living room! Absolutely no remorse from SKY, the installers or the company I bought the kit from until I wrote to the Chief Exec and threatened to sue them when they finally paid some attention. THEY ARE BAST4RDS but you have no choice but to use them.

Sparshatts Subaru - TOTALLY agree with you scooby-tc
Tesco - Some of the worst customer service EVER
Argos - With the exception of Argos
New Look - Don't ask!

Last but not least...

Game - God this is a long story. My friend bought a game from Game, tried to take it back but it was scratched and he was refused a refund so he rang and wrote to head office until they would take it back He wasn't feeling well so asked me to pop in and exchange it. I went in and the manager had ago at ME, claiming that she "recognised my face" and I was the trouble maker who went over her head. I explained that I had actually never shopped at her store before and that I was returning it for a friend who was ill at the time. She basically told me never to shop at the store again

Also had the p*ss poor Dell Delivery experience, although when PC eventually turned up, and didn't work, the bloke in the call centre in Mumbai was very helpful.

Interesting that EmpireDirect has been mentioned.

They seem to be a company that you either have a great experience with (as i did), or a total nightmare - nothing in between. Weird.
