I was hoping for something a little more eloquent though. I have an insight into this, but Im curious to see what they have actually done wrong.

the only thing i can say is that they are a rip off
but you dont have to use them

i have never bought anything other than ink paper and discs so i cant comment on customer service

Im going to let this drop. I assume that youre talking about the store in Enfield which is awful. In my exerience though, shop staff are ****-poor in the south east, which ever store you go into.

IKEA - Sofa arrived 52 days late. The shop, warehouse and delivery company seemed to be unable to talk to each other.

RyanAir - Used them twice... never again. First time delayed 6 hrs, second time 28hrs.

McDonalds - I hate their global domination of crap outlets selling crap food and sponsering everything from school books to the latest Hollywood blockbuster which is also crap.

NTL - product fine - customer service truely awful 3/4 hour holding on phone to canel my phone/ tv / Internet. Only to be told the 3/4 hour wait is normal for the servie industry ! WTF !!

First Direct - messed me up big time, didnt update change of address and never wrote my complaints of messing up a bank transfer ! Then closed my bank account for me as I had not replied to any letters (all sent to old address!!)

British Gas / Manweb for both claiming to be supplying me and getting bills of both ! Three months to sort and no applogies from either !

British Gas, who are threatening me with magistrates because they need to physically read/inspect my meter by law every two years, and mine hasn't been looked at in 13 months

Oh, and the fact that an appointment was arranged this morning "between 08:00am and 12:00noon" to check my meter - and the feckwits still haven't turned up

Then there is npower, who want to increase my monthly direct debit from £23-50 to £42, because over the last year i owe them a fiver (which will be collected in full in a week because this is the "settlement quarter")

vauxhall for trying to rip me off
scottish power for not sending me a bill for 2 years
ikea for selling me a bed they knew had parts missing
BT for refusing to close my account
Hill House Hammond - 3 yrs and still not settled my claim
HSBC for obscene charges
Alliance & leicester for sh!te online banking
habitat for general incompetence
dell for sh!"te delivery/customer services
birmingham city council for always digging up my road
wanadoo for always cancelling my account
HSBC (again) for 'losing' my bank acount
pizza express for not putting enough olives on my pizza
amazon for fooking up my xmas pressie order, no fooking good in january
paypal, well for everything
student loans for making me pay them back
nottingham university for not giving me a 1st
homebase for delivering dead turf
B&Q for delivering the wrong kitchen 6 weeks late

I like BT. Paid 45 quid to get connected, which they didn't do. Complained, told them I wanted my money back as they hadn't connected me. They told me that they didn't work like that, and instead they paid compensation for the days I was without a connection. They ended up paying me 90 quid compensation

My list:

PC World - tried for over an hour last week to buy a new PC for my son eventually gave up and walked out. How does this company stay in business.
Airtours - cheap holidays and don't give a **** if it all goes wrong.
3 mobile probably the worst company in the world.
Local council - why is Council Tax so difficult for them to understand.
MBNA - Indian call centre staff who do not understand English.
Amtrak delivery service - words fail me.
BT - slammed phone down when we phoned them withquery then phoned us and asked if we wanted to transfer back to them.
DVLA - bunch of Welsh leek eaters.
Tesco travel Insurance - for total incompetence beyond all others (close call between them and 3 mobile). In both cases I had to refer to their regulators before they would sort things out. On balance 3 are probably worse as Tesco did eventually apologise whereas 3 mobile never give a damn.
