Ring, track, I don't mind

It is very considerate of you to think of my engine, the more powerful Type R is a little temperamental compared to the slower Impreza's

5 dislocations! ouch, ouch, ouch! My shoulder feels funny just thinking about it! Good luck with the op M8

Cheers mate!

It mean my fighting days are over at the grand old age of 25!

However, I'll try not to embarass your 'frail' classic too much in my millenium machine!

Meant to say, what have you done to your Type R to get it to 310 bhp as they are 276 bhp standard aren't they?

Devils advocate

Did it take you a full day to come up with that?! lol

I don't drive a beemer, but next time I have your granny in the car, I'll be sure to keep some spare knicker elastic in the car just incase the old gal spies a beemer.

Like I said, I laugh my **** off at some of the posts on here!

Cool

Of the 30,000 miles I have covered in MY99 UK (full de-cat, HKS SSQV, TEK3....) I have only been beaten by 2 cars.

The first was a modified Cosworth on the motorway who totally blew me away (looked like he was running NOS by the way it went)...

The second was a Porsche 911 (996) C2 from 100mph I couldnt keep pace.

I have 'come accross' M3s, 330ci's, bugeyes wrx's, and a P1 (sure theres more, but those stick to mind).

Before people get funny the P1 was off the lights and down a dual carriageway (private one).

Most memorable was the M3 (R-reg conv) down a straight (private) dual carriageway. He was in front moved to left lane (at around 50mph) expecting to blow me away (as he was doing to everybody else) then i came up along side him and we stayed side by side through to 120mph (had time to glance over and see his v worried face) i had a car length on him by 140 by which time we both slowed down.

He was trying he damn hardest to beat me and the look on his face was one to remember.

Yes to an extent figures such as power to weight and 0-60 times do have relevance but when your on the road, driving ability and knowledge of how to drive your car make all the difference, particularly when your talking fractions of a second. These fractions of differences are only really relevant for pub conversations.

Don't wish to engage in a debate about how can you be faster than car X. Just sharing my experiences.

No Subarus aren't the 'fastest' cars on the road but I personally have only 'encountered' 2 other cars in 30,000 miles that were actually faster.

talizman

The car made 301bhp with just a d/p and on a warm day.
I've since had centre section, back box, green filter and uprated fuel pump fitted. I'm sure that lot has made a 9bhp (or there abouts) gain. I'll be taking her up to PE soon to confirm what I think is 310+. I guess I should say it's 301bhp till I find otherwise.

PE said that most Type R's make around 290bhp as standard.

The fact the the car weighs only 1260kg and it's ultra close gearing makes for some pretty good fun

A little like Prodrive's 0-60 times of 4.6 seconds = real world 5.3 seconds

just to put things into perspective. Merc-s600l UberBarge 0-60 4.4 0-100 9.3 that's 4 seconds quicker to 100 in a lux auto barge... mad.
the EVO 8 leaves the Sti-PPP to 60 @4.4 and 11.99 to 100 against 4.9 and 13.1 and a TVR tuscan isn't really in the same race. 60 3.68 and 100 8 seconds!
Saying that only the EVO would be in front down any british B road or around a track...
Like we all said it just nice to enjoy the car you have... that's why you spent the $$$ on it instead of something else... regardless of the outrite performance, on a cold night blasting along yuor fav road & few things will put a bigger smie on your face. Unless you've booked a bit of fell@tio...
Not recormended @ 10-10ths

Forgot to add> As for looks, STI just stops people in thier tracks! I've had all sorts of people saying WoW thats nice... whilst nudging thier partners.. And young lads and Lasses are too funny... just about every time I go out in it you'll get a few lads shouting nice car! and young girls do the same! "wish i was younger" Maybe the only car you'd get that responce is the TVR with that mad paint job!
Get some stronger knickers girls!
