What a load of ****! No-one is jealous of where the rally is
I was on rally GB two years ago at Margham park and the little local ******* were even stealing the advertising banners and packing them into their back-packs

I don't see that people are "whinging that it's in Wales and nowhere else", just that the attitude of the Welsh police/council leaves much to be desired, and as such, THEY, not the average Welsh Dai, don't deserve the rally.
I'm amazed at any comment about people moaning 'cos they can't get to see it...........when was the last time no stages AT ALL were held in Wales?
And the last time none in England/Scotland.?...........oh yes, this year, and last year.........

Look in the Wales GB rally forum then.Theyre all bloody whinging.
Re:the traffic probs. The rally has been in Cardiff for the last 4 years. Before this time no area in the UK had many speed cameras. Now they all have as many as weve got in South Wales. Therefore I suspect the police response will be the same wherever the rally is held.

Chip i think you are right where ever it goes in the UK will have a Police response because they all see the motorist as a cash cow to be milked and if we don't break the speed limits then they just keep lowering them until we will. you see this all over the place now.
But South Wales is at the Front of this drive by the Police to take money from the Tax payers whilst ignoring other crimes and are constantly breaking Guide lines in the implementation of speed traps to increase cash flow.
As mentioned above we UK residents are aware of this fantical speed enforcement but it is so unreasonable i don't think anybody who doesn't live here can understand how bad it really is, they still think of the British Bobby as a resaonable man rather the reality of a Tax collector in a blue suit.

>>All weve had here for a few days in ppl whinging on about the fact that its in Wales.<<
Yep - the fact that it ALWAYS is in Wales and Wales ONLY; and that there are horrid traffic jams, no room in hotels, excessive speed cams etc etc etc
And as for thieving little ******* the Swansea area kids are right little ba$tards - I should know I worked there for 5 years; think it was 4 windows and 6 door locks on my R5 Turbo; I parked it up the road and walked to work after 6 months of that.
Still musnt grumble, just mind your speed; its much more important than quality of life, ohh and kip on the back seat if you are going.

N.B. As a more constructive comment from me, I have pointed a mate who's an Exec at the WDA to this topic.
Maybe the sponsors will mention at least some of the plebs' gripes to those that can fix them...?

HG,
Yes you are right in what you say of course. I think you will agree that I did not support the attitude of the police in any of my posts. I also agree that the action to stop Gronholm was a bit hard, but the copper did not have an alternative action which was legal. He does not have the authority to allow an unroadworthy car to drive on the public road, only to stop it happening! If he had been caught allowing it he would have been hung, drawn, and quartered by his boss. Surely Gronholm would realise that. Any reasonable police service might have given him an escort, but that was obviously not planned for, no interest in doing that, and there was not much the individual copper could do in that case. This situation is down to the bosses not the individual.
I was merely stating the facts as they were and that there should have been no excuse for the competitors not to realise them. On the public roads the normal RTA applies, there are no special rules for motor sport events and the movement of competitors from one stage to another. It was not difficult to expect that the police would take full advantage of that and therefore the competitors should have taken proper care to observe the law if only to protect their own event for the future.
One cannot blame the FIA for being very sensitive about all this, they have to think about possible ill will towards rallying in other countries. It really only takes a bit of sensible thought and necessary discipline by the competitors to avoid possible bans on rally events in the future. I for one will be very upset if that happens to the GB Rally.
No problem Markus![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)

Excellent post Holy Ghost on the previous page....
Maybe you should send that post in Letter form to both the South Wales Police and the Welsh Local Council involved/Welsh Parliament.
Might have more effect than just posting on here.

As for cameras the police will react the same wherever the rally goes. You know theyre going to be there so just dont speed.
See, it's quite easy really.

I do wonder how much real crime was committed whilst this was happening?
I do wonder how much safer the roads where as a result of this?
I wonder how many cars where pulled for bald tyres, no MOT, dangerous driving, etc.
This country has gone mad, speeding is the only real crime, drugs, guns, rape and murder seem to take a back seat.
Pi$$es me off...

No you get them everywhere but in Wales the police seem more interested in catching people speeding than catching the thieving b@stards who steal from spectators cars. It's the attitude of the local lads that gets me. Since I saw them stealing the banners etc I haven't been back which is a shame because I like Wales and the forests are great
It's the locals and the Police that ruin it ![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
