I was thinking that we might need some extra security as we have 2 nice cars outside. Has anyone set up a web cam from their PC to look at the cars and take an image (say every 30 Seconds) all night and then you can delete them next morning if the car us still there.......

QUOTE sorry to here about the car i used to have a real problum with my cars being broken in to a few years ago even thow thay are park in the back garden behind locked gate.
then a deside to get some pets 2 ROTTWEILER since getting them iv only had three atemps at my cars and thay got them every time
i dont condon soly buying dogs for security and i didnt intend mine for this but they do a f***ing good job at it QUOTE

Exactly the same I've got a Rottweiler and while it's not invisible it certainly puts anyone off trying to get into my house. Never had any problems since I've had the dog.

I always keep my keys upstairs when I go to bed in a v safe place. Not gonna say where that is though for obvious reasons

I also have my car in a garage and another car right up to the door so they'd have a job trying to get at it.

Well shocked at that statement m8, u mean u value ur car over ur wife & family (if u have one)break into my home and you won't have to search far for my keys, the quicker there out the house the less violent they will be (hopefully) as they would have got what they want.
I love all of them but I am not the type of person who is going to allow car sharks an easy ride, have they knives, guns or whatever.

i think the point is that he had locked the car and house therefore taken reasonable steps to prevent them to have to take any further steps is due to a failure in the Police and justice system to protect them which is what we pay them to do maybe we should be questioning why these people can carry these crimes out with out being locked away for a long time.

It is complete failure by the Police etc that we have to buy alarm systems, trackers, guard dogs and then weapons to protect a car from criminals. they are blatently failing in their role in society we full fill ours in most cases and pay their wages yet look at the poor service we get.

Also sorry to hear about the theft, but what's that... blame the police??

Surely it should be blame the scum-bag thief, I'm sure if you check his social security benefits that you'll be contributing more to him than anything else!!

Anyway, get a grip... it's not just a car, its your pride and joy Subaru.

If any NED tried to liberate mine from the driveway I would not be acting like a big girls blouse and waving him off in the knowledge that it was insured!!

Anyone that's prepared to break into a house with the occupants in is not scared of confrontation and is probably tooled up.

You can replace a car, however pissed off you might be it's beter than being stabbed or shot because you got all brave. Doesn't matter how big you are a weapon in the hands of a ruthless scum bag who attatches more value to your car than your life can take the car as far as I'm concerned.

I'd just hope the tw@t crashed and got killed and the car was totalled so I didn't have to have it back worrying about how much they'd thrashed it and what was going to fail early as a result! makes me sort of think Trackers are a bad thing for the car owner sometimes!!

I've gotta shout this as people arn't listening.

PUT A CLIFFORD ON IT!!!

It doesn't matter if they break into your house and nick your keys. They still can't start it. IMO all cars should be fitted with black jax.

Even if your sat at traffic lights and they pull up in a tanker with a missile on the back demanding you get out.......
.......just open the door, get out of the car, let them drive off and walk down the road after it. It'll be there sat in the road empty. The thieves will have ran off when they realised the car hs shut down on them and they can't get it started again.

You can then DRIVE to the police station to report it, or ring them from your phone whilst DRIVING you car....hehe, couldn't resist.

I too live just outside Liverpool (not that Liverpool is worse than any other city) and whilst I live in a quiet area I always have keys in safe (£24 woolies) garage locked and alarm on as soon as we go to bed, usually with the missus car blocking the drive. I dont think it matters where you live if someone is after your car you have to do all that you can to put them off having a go in the first place (house alarm £168 B&Q).
Im sorry to here your news peolpe dont realise the hassle/heartake they cause.

The same happened to me earlier this year. House broken into (alarm not on), car keys taken and car stolen. Car was recovered with minor damage only - not worth claiming on insurance.
Threads like yours and other similar ones always attract the occasional baseball bat and 'I would have given him what for' comments. Having been on the receiving end followed by a further break-in about 6 weeks later (this time the alarm was on and the scum b*gg*ered off without taking anything), there is no way I would want to confront unless absolutely necessary. These crimes are usuallly drug related and I'm sure that the scum would not think twice about using the knife of other weapon that they will definitely be carrying. I have a wife and family to think about but even so, its just not worth it. Worth putting the house alarm on though and not leaving the keys on the kitchen work surface but don't take them upstairs.

Do you park it in the street?
if not then put a Steel anti ram post locked behind it! it's definitly a put off, and will actualy take some getting past. my mate made me a propper solid thing for £75 2ft deep and stands 3ft of the ground. They would have to dick about for ages to get past it so makes it that little more off putting...

stopping ppl getting in the house is a good idea- car out of view, alarm, dog in here sign, etc.....once in the house make it easy for them to leave with what they want.

anyone who thinks they can wake up and deal with two or more wide awake yobs has watch to much tv....you may be a bit hard on the playstation but it may all vanish when they suggest you give them the keys or they will slap your kids/wife about.

Tiggs,

I disagree, these c*nts who do these type of crimes are sh1tt1ng themselves whilst doing it. They are in an unfamiliar house which you know like the back of your hand.

Should this happen to me they aren't going to get away without a fight. Sometime ago I walked into a shop which was in the middle of being burgled. I couldn't believe everyone stood back and was letting the theives get away. I ended up rugby tackling on of the theives and holding him until the police arrived. Whilst I was holding him he was threatening me, my family and everyone I knew.
I never heard another squeak from him or his pals.

I now live 400 miles away from there though

Why would you risk your life for a shop which is nothing to do with you?

Sorry to hear that M8 but I am a bit like scoobygav555, keys in the bedroom + kitchen knife, baseball bat etc, I am a great Tony Martin fan. You works hard for your pleasure and shouldn't have to put with these B@stards nicking your hard earned. Hope its OK for you.

Anyone that would try to come into my home and endanger my wife and kids is not on, and I have a "Special" present for them, and lets just say they would be going out with a bang...., Get a house alarm and you will know when you have some unwanted visitors...

Why should we work hard for everything we have and some fu**er think thay can take anything they want and scare ppl. I think Tony Martin should have been given a medal, not locked up for what he done while protecting his life and his home.

Blackjax is clearly fine if you get hauled from your car at a set of traffic lights or similar situation, but when the car is stolen from your home? At the end of the day, they know where you live. Who's to say that they won't be so pi55ed off that they come back and torch the place? Unlikely, but food for thought, none the less.

Exactly.
I might be the next Bruce Lee, but when they get out of hospital and bring back their drug crazed, naff all to lose mates, what do I do then?

The worlds getting a bit iffy really. I really dont want to be a beige person, with nothing worth nicking, not standing out in a crowd, blah de balh, .. but why should theze ******* be allowed to get away with it?

The penalties are not enough - in fact, I bet half of them just love biting a pillow in the nick!
