************** - OK let me get this straight. You are saying that as a cat owner you have no control over where and when your cat defecates?
That in my book make you an irresponsible pet owner since you cannot control your pet.
I don't mind people keeping pets, but if they cannot keep thier pats under control then there are issues to be raised!
FFS - CAN'T YOU SEE THAT!!!

How is confirming your cat as being wild also saying that it is not indigenous??? surely if it is wild then it is more likely to be indigenous then if it was a pet. I think what you are referring to applies to releasing your pet kowla bear or giraffe into the wild
Not indigenous = not native to the UK
Wild = allowed to roam free amongst native wildlife
The two things are exclusive. If it is wild AND not indigenous then it is in breach. Simple... (at least I thought so )

For Everyone's Info:
Toxoplasma gondii (toxo)
A parasite that has infected over 30% of British people.
The microbe, toxoplasma gondii, lives in its host's brain and can only replicate in cats. The microbe reproduces in the cat's intestines when it is first ingested and millions of egg cysts are excreted over a two week period. These cysts can survive in the soil for more than one year.
It can cause spontaneous abortion in pregnant women, as well as birth defects, but it was not thought to have an effect on most of its human hosts before the latest findings. Researchers now think it may cause personality change.
Dr Manuel Berdoy said: "These results may explain the reports of altered personality and IQ levels in some humans."
600 babies are born every year in the UK with toxoplasmosis and studies show that 30% of 30 year olds and 50% of 70 year olds have toxoplasmosis.

Redkop said "... Get it into perspective.... do what I do - check your grass and remove offensive faeces. Not hard is it? ..."
Redkop - I do this every single day - I clean up the mess every day just so my daughter can play in our garden. Day after f**king day - you'd become p**sed off with it too - it's disgusting!

I really wish GTR Man wasn't breeding
I'd rather cats (and all other animals) could have a peaceful life rather than worrying about whether his brats might eat their ****e.........

It's really unfortunate that this discussion has degenerated into a series of personal insults -*********edited*********
You ever asked the question of why would someone go to the bother of killing your cat?!

--Jye - If I knew there was a liklihood that there was cat **** in my garden, I would go out and clean it up before letting my daughter play in the garden. I don't see that as being over protective.--
So if you've been out, everytime you come back home, you hunt all over your entire back garden looking for any cat ****e?
Come one..

I mistakenly thought that you couldn't find so many sick and twisted individuals on one forum!
If you don't like cats, dogs, pets whatever - fine that's your choice. You're entitled to it as much as anyone else. But I'm sure your comments/observations don't have to be brought down to this level.
As for "responsible parenting", somebody raises up the thieving little toerags that are putting up your car insurance!
From a responsible parent & responsible cat owner!!

A few 'facts'.
The parasite that causes toxoplasmosis can infect many mammals and birds worldwide. Most often, people are exposed to the parasite by eating undercooked meat or other food contaminated with spores. Lamb and pork are the most common offenders, but beef and chicken can also contain the infective form of the parasite. Unwashed fruits or vegetables and raw goat's milk can also be culprits.
Hmm, better kill all the sheep, pigs, cows, goats and chickens then rip up all the veg plots.
Morons.

There are ways to make your point other than trying to inflame people.
For what it's worth I can understand where you are coming from re: Animal faeces on your property. In our last house, we used to get loads of it, all over the edges of the lawn, but we realised that there was'nt really anything the owners could do, as it was the cat's just obeying their natural instincts.
I.e they are out and about, need a crap and just do it. Thinking about it, that's just like a few people after a night on the razz.
We tried a number of things, such as squirting them with water but it did'nt make any difference long term. So we bought some lion dung and spread it under the bushes around our garden.
Although we could'nt smell it, the cats could, and terrified the cats into leaving our garden alone. The best way to stop them, is'nt to inflict pain on them or scare them(they seemed to have a perverse attraction to our garden when squirted at), but to target their natural territorial instincts and make it clear that your garden is'nt part of theirs anymore.
My main bugbear is dog crap, most dog owners are really responsible and clear it up. We have a stretch of ground outside of our house, that belongs to us, but because we're on a corner people think it's ok to use it a dog lavatory.
Only one thing worse than finding dog/cat crap on your property and that's human crap
So, IMHO dog crap it's the owners fault, as dogs don't tend to wander about alone. Cat poo, it's down to the cat(it might be a stray one). The advantage with the many remedy's out is that they disuade all cats, and don't rely on you having to keep watch.

For what its worth, cats causing damage or misery to me or my property will be dealt with accordingly. That should be reason enough for you folks out there to keep control of your pets.
Rant all you like, its my property.
Edited to add: the same goes for dogs, pikeys whatever, so don;t feel picked on!

ok here's a few more facts:
How can I get toxoplasmosis?
* Through accidental ingestion of contaminated cat feces. This can occur if you accidentally touch your hands to your mouth after gardening, cleaning a cat’s litter box, or touching anything that has come into contact with cat feces.
* Through ingestion of raw or partly cooked meat, especially pork, lamb, or venison, or by touching your hands to your mouth after handling undercooked meat.
* Through contamination of knives, utensils, cutting boards and other foods that have had contact with raw meat.
* Through drinking water contaminated with Toxoplasma.
* Although extremely rare, by receiving an infected organ transplant or blood transfusion.
and don't call me a f*cking moron.
So you can get it other ways but coming into contact with cats is still a significant cause.

Its people like you that bring their kids up to think its ok to be cruel to an animal. Well done!

Now now people lets stop with the personal insults. Remember its the cats we hate, not each other. I love you guys (especially Redkop - he turns me on) but I hate cats and will rid this country/planet/universe of them.
Neil - thanks for lion dung tip - I'll give it a try.

Amazing thread. Druddle I didn't get to see your first thread but I understand from the gist of this one that your neighbours are p1ssed off with your cat sh1tting in their garden (or is it your cat peeing on your bed?) May I suggest you tell them to put a couple of half full bottles of mineral water in their garden. A mate of mine used this and it worked a treat (aparantly the cats find the reflection disconcerting)
If it's peeing on your bed, is it old? It maybe worth getting a littler tray. We have one now as our cat is older and I don't think his bladder is what it used to be. We use the Bob Martin granules which you leave down for a week and they don't stink the house out like Fuller Earth.
Dave
ps What is it with this board these days that people can't ask a straight forward question without having to take a whole load of abuse.
