Yep mate. Many coppers agree. Picked this up elsewehere -
>>I would argue it is not speed that kills but it is inappropriate speed. The cameras have become revenue earners as opposed to life savers and they are being placed at inappropriate sites as opposed to accident black spots. Most accidents I have attended have been down to rank bad driving and not excessive speed. It's not more cameras that are needed it's more police officers who can stop and deal with cases of bad driving and ******* with no licences or insurance. Cameras only catch the people who register their vehicles, not the real culprits for many of the problems on our roads.<<
They need to moan too - someone just might listen then; even if its the Chief Con over a pint!

Well, if you didn't speed you lot you wouldn't be so upset about getting caught would you?!
Just because its a straight wide road in the middle of nowhere with no traffic on it doesn't mean the 60mph speed limit is lifted - so, if you get caught by a trap doing 90mph then you have broken the law - simple!
I would remove the right foot off all speeders caught 3 times in any 5 year period!

yes but pslewis, there are some roads in the uk (believe it or not) where it is perfectly safer to do in excess of 70 mph. I have travelled out on roads where visability is in excess of 300 - 500 metres, now you can see far in the distance everything that is going on around you.
So why put a speed limit of 40mph up?? Its completely pointless if you ask me.
The original speed limits were set around much older cars with allot less effective brakes and everything else.
I'm sure plenty of people are sure that the stopping distance of their own car is allot better than what is stated on the highway code
