Markus, get some soft furnishings in that room. It will improve the sound no end. Should be going for a 50/50 split between reflective and dispursive or absorbative (sp?)

Markus, just looked at your remotes - do you have a philips pronto? or is it one of the cambridge audio models?

I'm looking at getting one of the Sony AV3000 models and was wondering if you know how they compare.

JVC TH-V70R Home Cinema System with speaker stands for the 4 satelite speakers. TV soon to be upgraded to a Widescreen Philips 28/32-PW9527 or JVC's equivelant. The Philips has the edge at present, a mate has the 28PW9527 and PixelPlus is awesome.

All home cinema and seperate hi-fi system bought from Richer Sounds in Guildford. Excellent place and recommend them to everyone.

Oh, and PG, move those speakers away from your TV. Should improve the sound quality no end

ditto Prodriva - you should be looking at around a 2m gap between your screen and speakers. Not always possible but the further the better, with the speakers at the same height as the centre of your screen. Another tip, it's recommended that your centre speaker is as close to the screen as possible, preferably underneath.

It's also recommended that you set around 10% of your budget aside for interconnects - you're not gonna spend 2 grand on killer kit then join it up with tin foil are you?

Definately connect a games console to your setup - if if got one of the newer machines with dolby digital then the sound really draws you into the game. Like I said before the Tomb Raider AOD soundtrack is awesome, very atmospheric, esp when you get to the spooky bits! You might want to turn the volume down on TimeSplitters2 though...

if you are feeling like splasjing the cash....Arcam FMJ range is the dogs, plus speakers of your own choice, Speakers are really personal choice, do not take advice, go and listen to them in a GOOD shop.

I've gone with this so far

Loewe Aconda TV 32"
Arcam DV88Plus (can get 89 now or soon)
Arcam A85
Arcam P85 (on Xmas list)
Mission 770 x 4 (pers choice) (from last system.....upgrade on next years xmas list !!!!)
Dialogue/bass woofer on xmas list.

in IMHO Arcam is the Dogs.....

thanks messiah.

my plan was to load myself up with as much credit as possible before I get married so I can have all the toys before my wife says no you can't have them, and on top of this when we get married she will know that I am already in debt so won't be surprised, rather than me doing it behind her back and getting caught out one day!

a good sound system youll struggle to get for £1000 but for alittle over that id go for
sony db1070 amp they are 6.1 channel and are quite cheap now
a rel sub as they are the best i can vouch for that
a set of crane audio speakers you can get a pre-used set for £500 or just buy the new ones for £800and they look and sound great i have a set of these in my house , the front speakers are about 5ft tall and sound great

here are the speakers
