Well i don't agree! ![Stick Out Tongue](images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Shorter guys are stronger. It stands to reason, and is backed up in events where it's actually measured! Tell me why tall blokes should be stronger then!

Shorter guys aren't stronger per se. It's just that they have the advantage of additional leverage, as you pointed out earlier yourself.
But small ones are more juicy. My TV set told me. So it must be true.

--Taller blokes might be able to ultimately become heavier, but not necessarily stronger--

Since when has a shorter lever exerter greater force? Presumably I'm missing something here. Surely length of levers only affects force multiplication rather than power..
Nah... you don't want to be using that huge crowbar - try this teaspoon instead![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Also consider this - one five foot powerlifter gets the bar above his head, as does a six footer with an identical weight. Who is more 'powerful' and why?

Alex, that would be true if there was a pivot, but there isn't in the same sense with a human body. Longer limbs just mean a greater distance to move a weight. Therefore, all things being equal, a bloke with shorter legs/arms will require less strength to move an object than a taller one. Or in other words, will appear stronger.
I fink!
I fink!

chaos clean and jerks usless. I powerclean to get explosive power. Did 80kg 5*5 yesterday as it happens
scoobydooooo - 10 miles in under 30mins easy. Do it everyday
Jye not all competitors as 6ft i can name 3/4BSM winners 5'8- 5'9
As for the bounce thing, i was surgesting that looks can be deceaving. Alot people seem to think im a 11st weaking
most of the power comes from the legs hence i need a 40" waist.
Legs are the key most people neglect this. you dont lift stones or do Arm over arm events with upper body power
its the legs.
As for smaller atheletes, smaller can shift more weight, even most body builders are small, only the other day i read Ronnie Coleman is a midget. Less distance to shift the gym weight
in the field they are at a huge disadvantage

Chaos,
May I suggest then, if you see these kinds of images again on SN, that you RTM the thread.... be rest assured either myself or another moderator will act upon them. It was due to RTM's from the community (concerning the image you posted), that I looked at this thread in the first place.
Regards,
Shaun.
