To be honest...I was disapointed with my scoob when I bought it

It's was a lot of things really, and since i'd driven alot of other fast cars, I found it really quite a crude machine in comparison.

My gripes....
Steering: wheel far too big, Over-assisted, too many turns lock to lock
Brakes: Pathetic, Over-assisted
ABS: It would help if it actually made the car stop faster
Spec: My XR3 had more "standard" extras than this
Radio: I think that lasted 1week before I ripped it out for my old pioneer. Speakers have no tweeters either!!
Seats: what..no lumbar/height adjustment??!?
Fuel consumption: The dealer told me a few porkies
Off-boost drivebility: Gutless
Lag: Slightly irritating
2nd gear no-boost syndrome: fecking dangerous
Clutch: Judder away!! - Very rarely a problem these days
Handling: bit understeery on tight/slow roundabouts

OK, I am VERY picky but that's all I hate about the car. OK
I've de-catted and K&N'd it and it goes like said feacies off a shovel, and It drives quite happliy without the turbo
Handling: had the geometry change - better (also found problem is partially the tyres).
Brakes - fast road pads/disc and properly bled, better but still a squishy pedal

Ok, Now I can live with it, but only because I can't find anything better for the money

hmm theres no point in trying to convince sumbody to a car there not impressed with

the things that he has said were not impressive are fixed with sum cash thrown at them, but maybe he doesnt want to do that

its his choice

shame he cant test a decent jdm car but thats life

That's the problem with scoobs...you have to throw a fair wad of cash at them before you get them like what they should be

May try some new brake lines though (not too much money...I hope)

I agree i've had my RB5 for 7 weeks now, its a disappointment not the car so much more of the ***** muppety poor excuse for a dealership that sold it to me.
Several serious warranty issues with it such as a serious misfire, rear diff leaking, piston slap, they forgot to put the correct amount of oil in the engine after a oil & filter change (1 litre down) all not being picked up on the so called comprehensive multipoint pre-sale inspection.
I saved sooo hard for a car such as this over the past years, and now i don't love it as much as i should, i hav'nt been able to drive it to its full extent due to the misfire and possible bore wash, i've fallen out of love with it.
Seriously considering selling it in the new year and get a new shape CTR, don't worry after its all sorted a strong complaint will be going to Subaru UK and to CD Bramall.

Goochie,

IMHO - Seems an obvious one to me - if you don't like the car, keep your old Astrada and save yourself alot of money.

If you don't find a Scoob quick enough, you won't find anything better in the price bracket.

Cheers

Again......you were probably disappointed because you drove a UK car. In standard form they are slow. Todays GTI market will beat them. Try a modified one, or an STI which will be Japanese pre MY00

I'm 23 now and hence, can't get insurance on a Japanese model
What??
I'm 23 and drive an STI5 TypeR. Maybe the hardest scoob to insure (not counting 22b)

You need to check your quotes again. Tesco will insure you on JDM's for about 1500 quid.

*edited to say, the TypeR does 0-60 in 4.3 seconds. If you think thats slow, then ferraris are gonna disapoint you too!!

Thumbs up

Let's face it, if you shagged Kylie, or Jo Guest, Louise Redknapp, or whoever else that caused all those wet dreams back in your teenage years, you'd probably find them a disappointment too...
still wouldn't be a disappointment

There's quite a lot of immoderate stuff here, Goochie, both for and against

Bangs-per-buck. This is where Imprezas score massively over almost anything else you can think of.

Wagons. You appear to want a speedy wagon...... nothing else comes close.

Disappointment. Take a further drive. Look for a MY99 if you can stretch to it. Remember AWDs are very different to drive.

More bangs for your buck. If modding is your bag, you have the perfect platform.

Snags. Yes there can be some. Like ANY car, you can get a duff'un, 'specially second hand if it's been thrashed. Clutches can be a bit perhapsical on classics.

In my view, an Impreza provides as much performance for road use as anyone can reasonably ask for: there will be few occasions where an out-and-out sports car is usably quicker on a British Road.

Good luck

Phil

Oh at last! some sensible words!!

Did I mention it will be driven over fields several times a year?? Anyway, I know the scooby wagon is the only real option for me but what about a galant VR4 wagon ??
