Nail, head, hit!!! A lot of the time women will use violence because the know/believe that they will not be hit back - that is simply not acceptable. If I pick a fight with my martial arts instructor I expect to die for being so stupid. This should be no different when 5 foot tall shazza punches 6 foot 4 screw loose bobby!

If a woman tried to assault me and could not be easily restrained I would not have any qualms about giving them a slap. Can't think of any other circumstances where hitting *anyone* would be ok to honest.

I have had a girlfriend want to play fight and I then spent the next 10 minutes blocking until she finally got bored. She was just playing around but I couldn't hit her.

I have retrained an ex before but that was when she cracked a rib with a frying pan. That did get a call from the Police... she called them on me. When they arrived and she told them the story I got sent to the hospital, she got a caution and I dumped her!

I am in the unfortunate situation of getting divorced. My wife wants me out of the family home, even though she is the one who had an affair, and has tried to provoke me into hitting her so that she can get me out. One time she called my mother a bitch and a slapper, hit me and then practically begged me to hit her. I managed to keep control thinking of the consequences but its very difficult to not lash out when someone strikes you. I have never and hopefully will never hit a woman but there could always be an occasion where it's simply self defence.

Do you have kids with her? If so then you've got one hell of a fight on your hands for the house.

If not then consider setting up a tape recorder / web cam to catch her assaulting you - should be enough for unreasonable behaviour and a restraining order preventing her to come within 300 yards of the house !!

Why is there such a taboo on hitting women anyway? Big blokes don't seem to have any qualms about hitting much smaller ones, which seems to be the main reason why men won't hit women.

Anyone, regardless of there sex or size should expect to be hit if they initiate and attack, plain and simple, IMO.

I've never hit a girl and I don't plan on starting now but after reading this I can honestly say I think they deserve the same treatment as the chaps, why should a girl be any different???

Both humans with the same rights and assuming both of them object to pain I think its safe to say they deserve the same treatment?

Can someone please give me a reason why woman should be treated differently given todays society?

Just had a thought......to make this a little clearer try applying the arguments to another species...

Say I have 2 dogs, 1 male and 1 female and I go down to the canal, I tie a couple of bricks to one of the dogs and throw the little blighter in to certain death, does it matter which dog I lobbed in, would anyone be less upset if I chucked the male dog in???

NO - If it effects a life then it don't matter what sex that life is, surely!

PS could just kick the crap outta the dog if ya wanna, I just killed the poor puppy to demonstrate what I mean!

...and i do agree that it should be no different that if a female starts to hit a guy then the guy has a right to defend himself...

...i started this thread because of the that my brother had hit me that morning...an agruement that was nothing to do with him was changed so make me look bad...i didn't touch him...but he got angry everytime i said something and hit me...the 3rd hit knocking me out and sending me flying about 15foot...

...not pressing charges against him for my mums sake...just getting solicitors involved so it is in writing and that if he ever touches me again i have evidence that it was done before...

...just wanted to see if i was out of line to think that he shouldn't have hit me!

If a girl was attacking me, then I would attempt to stop her, if that meant hitting her, then so be it. In other circumstances, nope, would not hit a woman, nothing to do with any sexist 'women are weaker' crap, simply that in my eyes it's not the done thing.

Personally I don't think it is acceptable for a bloke to hit a woman. In general Men are stronger and bigger than women and a punch thrown by the average man would cause the average woman a good deal of damage. Unless the women is attacking you with a weapon there is no way that you couldn't restrain her, it may hurt doing it but you should be able to pin her down without losing to many teeth I come from God's own county and the vast majority of my mates follow the same "rules" A women is (in general) to be respected and hiting them is a definate no-no that will end up with you receiving similar.

Scooby96, Yes, i have 2 kids and thats why i restrained myself from hitting her. Have tried the tape recorder but quality was poor, would love to set up some CCTV though but to much hassle.
Poor guy, it was tough doing nothing when she slagged my mother, if it was anyone else they would be very sorry.
I know some girls who enjoy arguements that get physical and can really lump a guy, so i suppose its all down to what situation you find yourself in and who your dealing with.
