Impreza's boy racer image!
#35
Mikey - that would be the wife mate! Everytime we see another scoob and she's in the car it always seem to be a maxxed motor. I always hope she doesn't see it, but that's unavoidable if there's a wave/greet thing going on between me and the twonk!

Well said Mikey!!
I love looking at my high level spoiler in the rear view mirror, I love the sound of the dump valve combined with the induction kit...all of these things have been done to the car because I like the sound and the feel I get when driving the car with them on.
It’s not to fit in with any type of image, and I definitely wouldn’t sell my car because of the image some people think I am trying to portray!!
Does this make me a girl racer??? lol

Suresh, MARRIED Aparently, it seems, you can't be Boy Racer, Max Power have a scoob AND be married Blimey, next thing you know, folk will be telling us that scoobs were designed as family cars
Mikey <Not really got an Answer for the wife objection, except my missus loves it (The car that is ) >

Would you say I am a boy racer then as my scoob has a big exhaust? I use it to get to work in and being a wagon is great for taking the dogs out, but........when the dogs are not in there and i fancy a bit of a blast i can have the best of both worlds, uses to have a landrover discovery before this and it was pipe and slippers job and was judged as a snob driving that so you cant win, drive what you like and bollox to want everyone else says!!

I've been laughing my ar*e off reading this, this is some funny stuff.
I'm looking to buy a scoob at the moment, Im 25, does that enter me into the 'buying as a boy racer' catagory? I'd hope not. My reason for buying, as I can imagine for others, is that it is a pure drivers car and i enjoy driving, with about the most impressive power and handling that you can buy for the money. It is also a 'wise' choise, being japanese so tends to come with a certain degree of reliability (that you wouldn't find on a euro-turbo).
When I buy one, I will be putting on a decat exhaust and an induction kit on it, not to be a wide-boy but because it gives a good performance increase for the money (and it does sound awesome ).
Japanese performance cars still have a diferent image to your average wideboy car, it attracts a different kind of person, I mean, Japanese cars aint pretty, they are ugly infact, but that uglyness is the appeal - as was said before, it is funcion over form, they are rally car pedigree for gods sake

Get in car. Look at horizon over* bonnet scoop. Smile. Stand on loud pedal and prepare to wear the scooby while listening to that flat 4 burbling away.
Stuff what people think. Enjoy.
John.
(* round the bonnet scoop if you've got an sti8!!! :P )

If you really care what people say ...stay in.!!! Dont drive, dont buy a car....what ever you buy you get a label.
Personally i couldnt give a cr@p what anyone says ...when they pay for it, insure it, tax it, fuel it and maintain it .... i'll ask for their opinion.... until such time its my car, i'll what i like with it...my93wrx with dump valve, gold wheels, mro lip spoiler, stiiV but stiV spoiler soon...and stickers...oh and a prodrive decat exhaust ..tv inside, neon inside..and flashing AFR meter, boost gauge, sti mudflaps in red ......angel eye lights soon..
do i sound like i give a stuff?? 'boy' racer?? at 39...... i hope so.

Anyway, do you care what people think? It's your car afterall, it's about enjoying the driving experience. What ever car you have, there will always be those that mock!

No the scooby is not a boy racer car, reasons as below
1) its not 10 years old
2) its is not covered in fast & furiouse sh*t graphics
3) its not got 1/2 ton tupperware bonnet vents suppling fresh air to an 1100cc engine
4) it has a turbo, not just a sticker saying "TURBO"
5) i dont have a back to fron base ball het on
6) its not got NOVA written on it
7) its not a sh*t car in the first place
8) The large exhaust is there for a reason.
9) Its not generally driven by 17 year old prats who think they can drive
10) i could go on and on
