I still think, as i implied earlier, that this whole can of worms was opened when the emails were sent out telling people that they were banned. if this had not been done:
a) most of the people who were emailed had no intention of going to the track again anyway, or had never even been there in the first place, so what was the point of *banning* them?
b)if those that did want to go back had *quietly* turned up, do you really think that anyone would have been there with a clipboard in hand saying "excuse me, i have reason to believe that you are the person known as ProperCharlie (or whatever) from the ScoobyNet bbs; therefore you cannot come in"? it would have clearly been laughable. I think the whole *list* thing was purely face saving and no more, and should never have been treated seriosuly.
well that's how i would have regarded it, in any case. i have had times when customers have complained about my staff for one reason or another, frequently trivial or "culture clash" related. if i am of the opinion that the complaint is not that serious i assure the client that the wrath of god will descend on this employee, they will be banned from going here there and everywhere, and then i put down the phone and forget all about it - everyone's a winner.
Edited to add: i do understand why the emails were sent, and i am sure it was done with the best intentions. its just with the benefit of hindsight....

I have broken my promise not to post on this Topic again
John F,
I stand by the quote you used off a previous post. But please read my post again, I did state this about 27 lines down
quote
Approx 7 cars failed the driveby test done by Bedford Marshalls, but the stated db limit was lowered during this test, which I didn't find out till much later after the event.
God,
My post was not meant to add mud to the waters and I appologise if it has. I posted that message in a reply to a question in the Members only area of the SIDC forum. A member asked what this 'Topic' was all about. I did not want give a 'behind closed doors' reply so to speak. So i copied it to this Topic, to be open and honest. Someone might of done it for me and called me a JUDAS or Back Stabber.
We were all in different situations that day and that post was my personal view of events.
Tony

I posted that message in a reply to a question in the Members only area of the SIDC forum. A member asked what this 'Topic' was all about.
Your reply was to my post in the SIDC BBS member's area.
I did not ask; "what this topic was all about".
Indeed, on my post there, I stated ...
I read most of the stuff that followed the last event at Bedford including the SN posts and the coverage in CCC.
It's fairly easy to sort the wheat from the chaff in terms of facts and childishness / abuse.
BTW, I was most grateful for the gracious reply from Phil.
I didn't and don't want to get involved in the ongoing saga on SN. Saying that, I did actually post something on this thread yesterday. I subsequently removed it. I'd foolishly not read through all the replies and the point I had made was misinformed.

R1916v,
I think you'll find that Mr Palmer is entitled to do what he likes with his business. As with any business, he is free to decide whether he wants to deal an individual, regardless of whether it's because of the colour of their hair, or something they've said.
Neither can I see any evidence that he's impuned anyone's character, since PS have made no public comment on the matter.

Josh
PS have told a 3rd party (SIDC Commitee) that the people on the list are not welcome at his establishment because they were abusive. I am quoting a member of the SIDC commitee writing on a thread in the SIDC Forum.
Would you feel the same way if I told the SIDC when I booked a trackday "only if that bloke JoshL isn't there because he <insert random untrue allegation>" ?
(Actually, you'd probably think like I did, that they would check out allegations made against one of their members before agreeing to it.)
Of course JP can ban/invite whoever he wishes, but he should get his facts straight first before involving 3rd parties.
The same applies to the SIDC.

I wasn't there but I've now read the whole thread and I am amazed that certain people didn't:
1. Ask for a refund or discount (based on short track / little tracktime). Money is money after all!
2. Individually write formal letters of complaint to JP himself or canvass opinion and all act and pull together in one direction to get it resovlved.
3. Insist that CCC publish the full article.
4. Keep some of the insults off a very public forum.
There is no doubt that PS were / are under significant pressure as regards noise regs if JP himself flew in - but it appears that may have been rather heavy handed in their haste to get the cars to comply quickly.
It's always easy to disect the proceedings after the event - and I
can't believe that a company with a reputation like PS could make so many schoolboy errors and act in an unprofessional fashion.
I'm afraid that human nature being what it is - this has rather coloured my judgement, and I don't see how anyone would now want to expose themselves to a similar occurance! A pity as I was looking forward to paying Bedford a visit .......

FWIW
This whole thread has demonstrated the usefullness of a public forum. Opinions have been voiced with the minimum of moderation.
I do however believe that the forum can also be used as a means of communication and organisation...you guys are articulate and intelligent enough to be heard as one voice. While I am sure that the SIDC and SN are doing all they can to resolve this issue it couldn't hurt to contact PS as a group.
As I said, FWIW

I run a motorsports club and we use Ed Moores company Motorsports-events for venues. Never had any problems and they service has always been tip top. I am watching to see what happens with this because we have run events at bedford in the past and will have to re-evaluate if members are turned away because of what on the face of it appears to be sloppy on-the-day management.
I only posted this because I want to make it clear to whoever reads this that it is not just 28 people that are affected; but other general paying customers. I'd be more happy to buy into Bedford again in the future if the venue respond publically to some of the challenging issues raised in the previous 21-odd pages.
"bad news travels 6 times faster than good news"
- this whole thing reminds me of when 60 locals were banned from gleneagles golf course because they weren't rich enough in the early nineties. Whilst Gleneagles initially only lost a few grand in revenue - the bad publicity nearly brought down the whole group (it is said they lost the rather lucrative scottish open for a few years because of that).

This post has made fascinating reading I have never sat and read one as long. The way this has been handled is a credit to Simon and the moderators, it seems a shame (in my opinion) that the same level of professionalism in handling complaints does not seem to have been exercised by the Circuit in question and ultimately it is them who will lose out. The customer is always right as they say. Keep up the good work Scoobynet I for 1 as a new scoob owner this year found the forums very useful and informative it is an exeptional service especially considering its free.
