Well said Jon... the crux of the problem is and always was the changing of the noise limits on the day from those published prior to but pertaining to that event.
It was the subsequent handling of this which helped escaltate the problem imho.
For the record I did not attend but I did comment that I felt that JP had handled the situation badly by not informing attendees of changes in noise limits PRIOR to the day. It is worth remembering that refunding the cost of the track time does not necessarilly make it ok.
When I attend a track day I incur travel costs, track insurance costs, fluid changes, pad changes, sometimes accomodation costs etc etc plus I often take time off work. Refunding me the cost of the track time alone is little compensation for all the above.... yet informing attendees prior to the event AND offering a refund would make this process far less painful.
Am I making sense...

Phew! Just read through all of this, and while I was one of the attendees at Bedford, I do not yet know if I have received one of the emails informing me that I am banned - if I have one, then it will have been sent to my work email address (I've been on holiday this week). If I have been banned, then I will be writing to Palmersport requesting a fuller explanation as to the reason behind it. All I need to do now is trawl through the original thread to find my solitary posting as I don't believe there was anything defamatory/abusive contained within it.

I don't even know if I "made it" to the list, because my email addy both on Scoobynet and when I was an SIDC member is no longer valid (you gotta love spam)
But... in the bigger scheme of things it's unimportant.
Chuck, may I politely disagree with you ? I see what you are saying, but I think your reasoning is a bit too easy. Of course harsh words were said in the original threads, but to be honest, on both sides.

] At the same time, posts like the ones that contained digs about Mr. Palmers F1 career were totally OTT as well.
Of course, people are sometimes louder on a BBS than in real life, things do get said in the heat of the moment (you never do ?) but I do happen to know a few people on that list very well (or say, they are friends) and they are certainly NOT typically known for just being destructive or plain abusive.
Now this had all sunk into the pit where it belonged: 2 parties heavily disagreeing with each other, SIDC banned, letters to C&CC sent, the battle "rested".
Now after a year, Mr. Palmer lifts "the ban", great, good stuff. But why list 28 names ? Am I weird for finding that a bit, erm... weird ?
You can not burry hatches and at the same time qualify you want apologies etc. Maybe people even would have apologized spontaneously, perish the thought. That's how grown ups work.
In my opinion, and I'm trying to word this carefully, this "list" making has been a rather childish action.
I do agree with the view that the thread got completely out of hand at the end, Lee & Lisa were involved, all very ugly stuff. I can see that side as well. But dust has settled.
Can you honestly tell me it was a good idea to stir that dust up again ? Life is too short on *both* sides of the fence no ?
Maybe this all comes down to growing up in public and trying to find a modus vivendi on just how the internet and BBS's work.

What is this "Dr" thing..???? is he a registered GP???? If so fine.. But a mate of mine who is a back mechanic ( Chiropractor) thinks it big to be addressed a s "Doctor"..well unless your covered in blood and working 100 hours a week your just Mr mate...

seams like JP threw his toys out of the pram and then asked the other children to hand them back for him.
disgusting, maybe if he just admited that he himself caused the whole problem then a lot of people would be a lot happier, to me it seams like hes hideing away and getting other people to voice his opinions for him.
imagine a shop owner selling sweets, for what ever reason he plans a huge open day where loads of kids come to spend there money in his shop, only on the day he has to limit how much sugar the kids are able to eat becuase the old bloke living above his shop is complaining and wingeing, so he bans kids with slightly above average sugar levels
