The Million Pound Property Experiment - BBC2 ***Heads Up Again***
#31
Chiark - that just isnt true - the whole thing is that they will get from £100k to £1 million within 7 house renovations. They want to prove within 7 house developments you can end up with a house worth £1 million. This is what they say each week. So how much profit they make is vital. Over 6 houses they have made about £170k profit - and just over £100k of that is from last nights program. They have taken upto 9-10 months on one of the houses - but I can only presume all the developments are running concurrently. So as an individual it would have taken about 3 years to do what they have done so far. Not a great profit.
But the main point is it in no way proves anything, because if you arent using the profits to move on and up to the next house you may as well start at the 7th house.
I find it entertaining and keep watching, but those two blokes are very irritating and need a slap. Maybe that is the appeal - hoping somebody will punch them.

It seems on the above data, the sold for price is the amount that has gone on the next house.
The buying, developing and building costs? Seem to have appeared out of thin air.

I imagine they set out to turn £100k in £1m, as I'm sure it is feasible if you're a sensible developer
However, suspect the narration was put on recently, and they had to change it to getting a £1m property rather than making £1m when they realised they had made such a c*ck up of the whole thing.......

agreed loved the house int he end but seriously 800k for a semi detached house WTF!!!! move down here in the coutry you could have a mansion for that plonkers
made me laugh though that big crack down the wall and the numptie turns round and says thats not major just fill it in, then he says the building is structually sound, so then they go get a architech I was laughing my head off when she said the wall is pulling away from the house his face was a picture the misses enjoys the program and keeps telling me to shut up with my critisism but I cant help it they are so damn stupid, ALOT of luck has helped them to get the profits they made IMO....
agreed too on the fact that they have edited the last couple of programs to change it from 1m profit into a 1m house
funny program but what a bunch of prats.

Of course you could have a mansion in the country, but not everyone wants to live in the country!
Edinburgh can support £800k for that type of house as Edinburgh has a very bouyant property market (not enough houses), and the area it is in is quite popular for that style. It is also within walking distance of the city centre.
