Some people seem a teeny bit defensive on here - bet you're the sort that stick all those lovely xmas lights of santa and cr4p outside your houses and think it looks nice too

"Rally cars sound good, but dont have big exhausts?

The brakes on my Impreza were fine for the road."

LOL.

You're one of those .... *type of people* who assume whatever comes out the factory then that's how it should best be.

Did you not read my last post to you, "Doctor"? That cars from the factory are compromises to meet the various demands that often conflict with those that THE CUSTOMER/DRIVER has?

What is wrong with having stronger, more durable brakes? Standard brakes may be adequate for YOU and your style and preiods of driving, but for someone else more braking power might be needed or wanted.

Should we all be happy with the stock 215 Horse Power because we don't need to accelerate from 0 - 60 in under 6 seconds on our way to work or the supermarket?

Why do YOU have a 215+ HP car image doctor? 100 HP from a 1.8 litre Mondeo can perform your A to B duties quite easily.

S'a good point, most cars depreciate pretty nastily over the years anyway so why not modify the car to the way you want it.
Only got a scoobysport system and quickshift on mine that the last owner had installed but it didn't make the car suddenly perform horribly 'cos it wasn't standard.
Modify if ya like and don't if ya don't.
Having good taste when doing the modifications is another thing (eg gold plated interior - not good).

As Cosworth says the mods are their to improve what was supplied to you by the manufacturer if you aren't completely happy with it.

Bit like improving the brakes (glad I did after being severally cut up) and chaging the headlights (bug eye).

Modifications are a personal choice. I have changed my car quite a bit, some of it functional some of it not.

I really don't care what people think.

I like my car and it does, for the moment, what I want it to do. The moment I get bored I will consider some other mods!

The basic car was fine and there is the rub, it was fine.

My car now is suited to me and that is what is important.

Mod your car don't mod your car it is up to you.

Just don't ever dictate to me what I should or should not do with my money or property.

In other words, doctor, I raised difficult questions that you failed to anticipate when you created this thread.

I'm sorry image doctor, your post and thread, and the fact that you own an Impreza reeks of double standards.

Don't get mad at me because I noticed it.

Question

FIJI heavy industries spent £millions developing the Impreza into the car we can go to the shops and buy off the shelf .... all that money went into making it the best balance of life, power and reliability.

Fool about with any of those combinations and what happens?? BOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM car has a wrecked engine/gearbox/clutch/turbo/brakes/ the list is endless.

Why Mr Roy Bacer thinks he can spend £2000 on his car by buying bits recommended in MaxPower and IMPROVE it is beyond me!!

Keep it standard, keep it cool, keep it alive!!

SISI club of great britain - fighting on behalf of the shagged up Impreza!

After reading some of this drivel the only thing "shagged up" as you so elequently put it, is PSLewis and Image Doctor.

Some Mods are worthwhile others are just pleasing to the owner. I enjoy my track days and the few alterations I've made have given more power and better stability. As for resale who cares. I'll sell it if and when I need to upgrade to something else.

Afterall it isn't difficult to change back.

Oh I found one of your guidance systems Lewis

Have fun TTFN

No I would, however, highly recommend you spend the money on a general English evening class - specialize in spelling and making sense!!

If you're not, I think you'll find it's SPECIALISE

So, if I may beg to differ, I feel it may be you that needs the general english evening class.

Saxoboy, the 'ring is a little better on brakes than some race circuits but the standard stoppers won't cope with 140-150mph down to 70mph type stops, which you can do on there.

You won't be able to tell what it is like from a video!
