I think we should ban people from banning things.

I've lost track Jye. We've got to keep our nationalist posts up. Moses and Turboman has faltered.

Leslie - "I see no good reason why people should be barred from wearing clothes which relate to their ethnic origins or even their religion."

I do - school uniform.

Am I missing the point or is this done to try and reduce racial tension, especially in schools where this issue is most prevelent.

And to give my judgement on the football comparison, yes, walking through deepest Manchester wearing a Chelsea shirt might attract some attention. Instructing Chelsea supporters not to do this might actually be in there interests. Nobody is suggesting that they should become devout Man City supporters, just that they recognise the allegence of the majority.

Thumbs up

Ian - no you're not missing the point, and in fact you've hit the nail on the head as it were.

I assume that the commission or survey that was carried out to reach this suggestion came to the same conclusion as you have said (and a few of us too), and has the best intentions for everyone in the French schools.

It's unfortunate that people are too quick to start shouting about racism etc. before they look at the big picture. Both my parents were teachers and they whole-heartedly agree that the idea is a just one.
