Poor Guy, $hit Happens, we all make mistakes and at the end of the day the examiner was only doing what she is paid to do. I swear it says “fail as many 17 year olds as possible” in their contracts.

Poor Guy, comiserations mate. You made a mistake and hopefully you'll learn from it. Just rebook your test and carry on, don't get into the downward spiral of thinking you'll never pass. I know it's hard, but try to be perfect for your test, you'll never be perfect once you have your licence so just put the perfect drive togther once.

For the record, I passed both my car and bike test first time because I knew I had to work for them and they weren't easy and they meant everything to me.

it was minor error. it didnt deserve a fail. and i know the rules thankyou. use the left lane where possible, there was NO ROAD MARKINGS OR SIGNS to direct which lane i SHOULD go into so i used the left lane as i usually do at a junction because it was safe to use it and i should use it where possible. i wasnt causing a hazard or doing anything stupid you silly man.

You won't get another test before christmas, even if there is a cencellation, because you have to wait a minimum of 14 days before you can re-take.

Edited to note that i can't remember the exact time period but i really doubt you'll get one before the shut for christmas.

Poor Guy, I know you're disappointed, it's obvious from a lot of your posts how much this means to you, but you HAVE to accept the fact that on this occasion you failed to meet the standard. If you bury your head in the sand and refuse to accept things your driving will never improve, you have to accept that the only person responsible for your driving is you.

I'm not a perfect driver, but I passed my test over 12 years ago and still critique my own driving to try and identify areas of improvement.

I promise you, calm down, be critical of your own driving and strive to improve and you'll get your licence.

Except when turning right from a one-way street, obviously. Really, I don't see why you find it so hard to understand. Why would anyone think to take the left lane when turning right from a one-way street? The rules are pretty much common sense.

Umm.....so there was absolutely no one-way street signs on the road? You already stated that parked cars were parked on the right hand side and no-one could be in the right hand lane so you MUST have known it was a one-way road.

Therefore, you MUST know that you turn right from the rightmost lane in the direction of travel....(unless instructed otherwise by signs/markings)

Stop moaning and read Roadcraft instead. You failed. Calling the tester a b***ch is unfair. She is just doing her job. You, however, were the one in the car who was not performing to the required standard.

I know someone posted part of the section from the Highway Code before, but to quote it completely....

One-way streets. Traffic MUST travel in the direction indicated by signs. Buses and/or cycles may have a contraflow lane. Choose the correct lane for your exit as soon as you can. Do not change lanes suddenly. Unless road signs or markings indicate otherwise, you should use

the left-hand lane when going left

the right-hand lane when going right

the most appropriate lane when going straight ahead. Remember - traffic could be passing on both sides.

It's funny. I had just that situation in my cycling proficiency test that I passed aged 10. I wouldn't really have called myself a petrolhead then, and I don't think I could have done many donuts on my Grifter - but I knew my Highway Code. And had some basic common sense.

I'm quite happy that the DSA are failing muppets like PG and chaos - just wish more of them didn't slip through the net...

Your saying it should be a minor. Fair enough. You are entitled to your own personal view whether you are right or wrong.

At the end of the day you made a mistake which resulted in you failing your test. Accept that fact as you cant change it.

Maybe you should be studying the rules instead of being on here.

So would you consider being in the wrong lane at a roundabout a MINOR mistake? Or on the motorway? Or approaching traffic lights?

Your defence is that the lanes were unmarked - that is not a defence, that is an excuse. It is common sense at a roundabout that the right lane is for going right and the left lane is for going left or straight-on. They're not marked (usually).

Try your cycle proficiency first before getting with the big boys on four wheels.
