pop idol is what pop is all about....on a sat night the family all watch it.
it has good songs (anyone who cant find any song to like on the show is not a music fan)
it has comedy...ant and dec and becoming very funny ppl
and it has good singers, maybe not stunning but certainly good- if they get put there buy multi millionaires who made their money buy giving us what we like then i'll live with that.
as for voting....its ALL done by 14 year old girls. they like michelle because it makes them feel that being an ugly spotty 14 yr old wont wreck their life and they like robbie williams types- mark looks like someone they could get off with, sam looks like their younger brother.
happened last year, cute gareth went out ahead of rugged will......now had it been known that will was gay and gareth shagged jordan it may well have been different!

ps- its certainly better than "fat man scoop" who i saw on TOPTP a while ago.....what the hell was that?

At the end of the day they are the ones laughing at us as they can most probably sing better that us lot, and are raking in ooodles of £££s doing it.
It may be ****, manufactured, talentless (or whatever else you say it is) pop but who has the last laugh - they do.
Now if you wanna slag off talentless pop, try Blazing Squad. Could tell you some stories about them (work pal's brother is their tour manager).

People who watch these programmes are stupid. Nothing more, nothing less. As for family entertainment, I actively discourage any family from watching this rubbish. Why not have a conversation instead. Or learn something, instead of filling your own and your childrens heads with crap.

I know you *want* these guys to fall flat on their faces, or to become obscure again, but for some of them, they'll be around as long or longer than many other pop stars who came from "conventional" methods of discovery. Why should it concern you that this will be the case? I just don't get why you're banging on and on about something so trivial. To label its viewers as "stupid" was a mis-judged statement, if ever there was one. Just hit the "off" button, eh?

Well, you can bang on as much as you like, but I cannot change my stance on this. It's a matter of principle to me and I seriously believe that Pop Idol having a negative effect on the youth of this country. They are apparantly being shown that by simply being a talentless karioke moron you can achieve success, no matter how fleeting, and that the good old traditions of hard work and sucess based on *merit* can now in some way be by-passed. This is a patent falsehood.
It has the same set of values as playing the lottery, which is equally participated in by the stupid.
BTW what's all this sh*te I watch on TV then? Top Gear? Have I Got News For You? Please explain....
