I didn't know that they wern't doing another one. That is *good* news. Maybe they've made enough money now or something. Or perhaps they're planning something even worse...

ub - why don't you stop critisizing pop idol and start beleiving it , and realize that these "kareoke singers" (as you call them)
are dreaming of being a pop idol , the show may not mean alot to you , but it means a dam lot more to them. you are not professional so you cannot say they are "kareoke" , you must put youself in their position , oh and by the way if they sound "kareoke" you must sound extremely ghastly !

Pop Idle more like
Wouldn't it be better to get these ponces down a proper boozer and see if they can cut the mustard in a proper live situation - show who's really got any talent. I'm sure it would be more entertaining too - more heckles, more crying and even a few flying beer glasses.

My opinion of Michelle is that she is physically repulsive, she's ugly, has bad teeth, seems arrogant and her voice makes me cringe - whether she's singing or talking. Then theres her chins -she reminds me of Jabba the Hut. She's not a pop idol - she can't even dance for 3 minutes without puffing like a beached whale ffs.
That's my opinion, doesn't make me shallow (much) - or shall I just be PC and say "she's not my cup of tea 'cos she's a fat bloater"?

Who gives a FF who wins, won't make any difference as both will get recording contracts regardless. Cant believe people actually vote for these pop wannabes. Whoever wins isnt going to affect our lives are they?

By it's scheduling, by definition it's "light entertainment", nothing more. Sure, it's appealing to the lowest common denominator, that's how it gets such high ratings. How many viewers does "Young musician of the year" get on BBC2 ? Hardly any. That's true talent, but unfortunately our culture isn't a meritocracy, you don't get anywhere by being good, you achieve by entertaining (Labour party getting into government is a prime example)..
But compare Pop Idol with it's scheduled peers.. "You've been framed".. hardly high-brow. Catchphrase, ditto.. it's all about sitting down in front of the sofa and watching mindless stuff.
Now, if the contestants can springboard their exposure to make something of themselves via their songwriting, good luck to them I say.
