Have you noticed that the ONLY large successful female artist we can recall is Alison Moyet?
Has there been no-one else in the last 20 years? (yes, it is that long ago)
At this stage of the competition Michelle is miles ahead, but I don't think she was the best by a long shot.
Roxanne had it all. Great looks, great voice, shame she didn't have any character
Suzanne has a great sound, shame she hits more bad notes than good.
Personnally I thought Kim was the best. Even if she WAS overweight I thought she was sexy, and had a brilliant voice.
Mark is just so.......ordinary.....yawn. He can sing, but who will listen?
But back to Michelle. Yes, she's large, and no, she's not gorgeous, but I still like her. She makes me laugh and can sing not bad, considering she's expeted to learn a song in a week and perform it in from of a live audience without making a single mistake or bad note.
You can't possibly say these kids are talentless. I've seen professional singers try to sing live and the majority of them are just cr@p, but you can't hear that becaise they turn the backing music up so loud
In general Pop idol is good Saturday night viewing, and if you don't like it go watch something else, it's not rocket science

we can slag the contestants off till this server runs out of memory, but at the end of the day, the winner of the show, be it Michelle or Mark are a LOT more talented than ANY of us on here.
Furthermore, they will earn more doing their thing, than any of us can probably expect to earn in our lives.
Will they say ten Hail Marys each night before bed, hoping for that elusive Spec C?

Ahhhh, I'm glad I'm not the only one that get's shivers when I hear that song. It would actually be a really good song without the bad key changes. I run for the TV remote now when it starts, it bothers me THAT much, lol.
She should really take some happy pills though. Who wants a poster of some bird looking like she wants to top herself

I rest my case then. Alex Parks was on Womens' Hour as I drove to work. Had to laugh when she said that her dad sent the tape in without telling her. But then she said that he was "really brave" for doing it.

And.. her version of Mad World is really abysmal.
