Huntley: Police "Oscar Speech"
#31

I kept my mouth shut yesterday untill I could watch as many reports as possible to learn the facts.
No doubt, there were some monumental ****-ups made by both Cambridge and Humberside Police during the vetting procedure of Huntley. However, as others have said, Huntley was an evil predator who would have killed sooner or later.
We as a country now have a dilema. Do we want to put into place a system where we can lock up individuals because of inuendos and rumours? It could be done, but at what price?
We are very lucky to live in a democracy. Do you really want to live in a dictatorship, where the state decides that your views are illegal and locks you up.
We are lucky to have the right to free speech and movement. The downside of that, is that monsters like Huntley are free to roam untill they get caught and convicted. However, thankfully the likes of him are few and far between. Are you prepared to lose a lot of your rights in order to protect us from the likes of him?

Taking his microphone off and leaving the studio in the middle of an interview - storming off or upset or maybe both - you decide!!

Alcazar - The difference being that maybe your colleagues were accused once. A one-off, easily (dis-)proven thing.
Huntley was accused MANY times of the same sort of offences. OK, none made it to conviction, but that many "alleged" is hard to overlook...

click on last nights programme video on the top right of screen, then scroll to 14 mins for the start of the interview, 18 mins for him storming off.
