The device you are talking about is called an AUTO TASER.

This thing is cool, does anyone have one? Surely at £200 its a good upgrade considering the price people spend on trackers etc. Sounds like it might gobble up batteries a bit quick. I love this picture.......

The taser thingie is a bloody good idea. Without doubt it is a cost effective deterrant. Thank god you cannot buy marigold gloves over the counter to insulate you from the voltage - OH BUGGER

Come on, it is 50,000 Volts. I wouldn't fancy poking it around with a pair of dish washing gloves.

I am just having a break to imagine the thieving ba*t**d in that situation
So do you all think that that is the best idea???
The good thing is that you can transport it easy to another vehicle
Still thinking about blanking the locks but time is running out as I have to fix the damn locks and the alarm
Had a look at the spytech page.....armoured body.....etc looks like this is the place to go!!!!!!!activated crossbow when someone breaks in?????
Please gave me your views as to what is the best way

Lightbulb

Just scanned the history to this.
A few idea that don't seem to have been raised.

* Fit a removable steering wheel boss
* I haven't tried it on a Scooby, but several cars have the same size front and rear handles, fitting rear handles to the front removes the lock hole. No idea on the cost ...
* I saw a wireless remote web cam for sale on a web site in the states for $79, this transmits up to 500m and runs off batteries, if I find it again I post another reply.
* You may also be able to trigger a camera flash when the alarm goes off, this would attract attention and disorientate the theif.

I have protective film on the rear windows and it is a pain at night. So I would go for clear or a light tint only.

Yours
Nigel

Don.
You probably are not of the marigold industrial strength range as worn by all the top electrical engineers. these puppies will stop anything except you getting sweaty fingers once on your dannies. you can get 'em mail order from all leading car theif publications such as Scumbag Can't Be Bothered To Work For It So i'll Steal Someone Else's Car, Crack ***** Monthly incorporating Why Work For a Living When You Can Steal To Buy Drugs or Fast Ford Magazine.

Karlo,

Hello. Have you considered more 'subtle' visual deterrents?

A sticker perhaps, proclaiming you have rather violent
hobbies, such as Boxing, American Football, Karate etc.

Why not buy a local American Football or Ice Hockey Team Sticker,
and a cheap set of shin pads etc, put the sticker on the driver side rear window,
leaving the pads etc. conspicuously in the rear seat or parcel shelf. I personally wouldn't like to break into some 18 stone persons car that actually enjoys a physical contact sport, who may be more than fit enough to chase and catch me.

A hard hat proclaiming that you are a broken nosed brickie or construction
worker may even have some similar deterrent effect.

Even a carefully folded up piece of A4 paper with the name of your local Police
force emblazoned on the header in large bold type may have the scum wondering
who u work for. Just leave it visible on your seat when u park. They may even
think u are a fellow scumbag in trouble with the Police, and leave u alone.

Make sure when u park that no one is either following u or watching u park up.
Wait round the corner for a minute and then survey the car park from a distance,
are there any people walking about the car park suspiciously. Thieves usually
work in pairs, with one being a lookout.

I have had two Scoobies in three years and I have not had anyone so much as look at my motor (boooo!), perhaps it is because I choose boring (matter of taste I know)
colours (DGM) and look a bit dodgey myself, heh, heh. I am very fussy where I park though and will drive round for ages to get a good visible end parking space.

On the subject of your previous posts. I don't think u went over the score, but
you 'will' catch more flies with sugar etc, Ignore the posts which are unhelpful, pedantic folk will always poke fun at others posts, especially without reading the original, so now go catch some scum J

Jye

Hi,
I do marital arts but do not advertise it!!!!
I do resemble Bruce Lee (if that helps in anyway!!!!!! ))
Too bad I did not get the bas**ards or my fake 007 (license to kill) card would have to be displayed
I have tried using the back door handles but they are half an inch too small
Getting new locks for the time being then I will look into it more in depth.
That camera sounds good!!!

Karlo,
Have fitted a removable steering wheel boss to our Lancia Stratos replica as most thieving types don't tend to carry a spare wheel and there isn't much sticking out to attach a pair of mole grips to when it has been removed. It was fairly inexpensive, about £130 for the boss to fit our steering column and Momo wheel, and was bought from Deemon Tweeks. A word of warning though, your air bag connections aren't accomodated so you would have to buy another steering wheel which would bump up the cost. We have also fitted an FIA type master switch which has a removable key. Although the key is widely available you would deter the casual thief.
Sorry to read of your many break-ins, my Scoob is just fitted with a Cobra Cat 1 and a steering wheel disclock so I'm hoping for better luck. Hope this is of some help.

Karlo,

although I am an RS owner I think we all suffer from the same thing, thieving scum.
Not so long ago there was a security product test in one of the mainstream magazines, REVS, I think. The Tazer that people are recommending on here was removed VERY quickly as it has a very noticeable weak spot apparantly. The only steering wheel lock that is of any use is a disklock. Nearly all others can be removed by cutting the steering wheel. If I was you I would get a removable steering wheel and your door locks filled in/removed. Also an anti ramming pole on your driveway would also help to disuade the thieves. Another useful item is a pager alert which bleeps to tell you when your doors, bonnet or tailgate have been opened. If you are considering keeping your car for a long time then I would consider some kind of tracker system for your pride and joy as well. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you get to keep hold of your pride and joy. On the positive side, the people who have tried to take your car don't seem like professionals, otherwise they wouldn't need 5 attempts to take it.

Regards and best wishes,

Gary.
