Can you stick me down as 'very interested'. I've got an MY03 WRX, but before I get a remap I am looking at changing a few other parts.

Cheers, Dave.

Bob, wasn't my intention to sound petty, just frustrated! Was only meant as light-hearted so apologies if it sounded otherwise.
Will drop you an e-mail once I have a better idea of what mods I will be doing to allow you guys to do your stuff better!!

Hope everyone has a good christmas and that you enjoy yourselves safely!!

For those of us new to this Forum, can we have some more info on the TEK3 ecu, Who makes it, is it a new pcb, exchange unit etc etc..what gain does it give? I own a standard MY00 but am interested in improving performance.

Thanks!

It is a remap of your existing ecu ( no add-on boards ).

Thanks for the link to EcuTek, I have had a look and it seems very impressive although I couldn't find any mention of Tek3, only the Tek2. So from what I gather it is software that I buy to load onto my standard ECU, with which need a "dongle" or "licence" in order to make it work in conjnction with my PC. It then needs mapping by a specialist. Does the standard Subaru map get transferred into the new software so you are at least on the standard map before you take it to a mapping specialist? What sort of cost is involved?

Now I am confused! I've had another look and now I seem to think it's an exchange ecu, already programmed and ready to fit my car, providing a performance increase over standard. I can then take my car to a specialist for more mapping if I have done other mods to the engine/installation. Price is £500 + vat.

Have I understood this correctly and is this what the group purchase is about? How much will it cost if I join the group purchase scheme?

Sorry for all the questions, althought I've had Imprezas for over 3 years, I've never bothered with any mods! (well on my road car , anyway)

Thanks,

Martin

That price you've posted looks like the Tek 2, which is an 'off the shelf' map. The Tek 3 is a re-map of the standard Ecu to your individual car. I have mailed you the prices of the Group buy, which is going to be with B R Developments. I will put up a link to their website and provide an e-mail addy, for any further questions.

Will fitting one of these re-mapped ecu's cure the horrible flat spots and jerkyness of my car (UK, 2000 W Reg)? The subaru dealer told me that it was normal and nothing could be done!

The only mod I have is a decent back box. I imagine that it would be worth fitting a full exhaust system to match, right up to the turbo before I went for this TEK3 and re-map?

Can anyone advise?

Hi all, I have a MY52 WRX and have been interested in a tek 3 for a bit now, i have a full system and panel filter and would just like a couple of questions answering.

1. Would i be ok to have the tek 3 on given what mods i have?

2. What power would i be lookin at?

3. What price is it with the group buy?

I would of looked at the link but it doesn't work.

Thanx for your time.

Blitz.

Mef,
The tek2 on my car has removed all the standard hesitation so I am sure that the tek3 should go further to help!

rb286,

The TEK 3 allows for pretty much anything. More highly modified cars will require the 3-port solenoid, but this is on a car-by-car basis to BR devs' descretion.

Blitzboy,

You are fine for a TEK3 with the mods which you have.
The more mods, the better the enhancement, but you will still see good gains on an unmodified car.

mef,

If the car has a full decat, you will get far better results from the remap. A scooby performs much better with the decat alone, so the TEK will be the icing on the cake!

Let me know your requirements.

J.

OK, I'm getting seriously interested now!

Possible not strictly for this thread but:

Where is the best place to get the rest of the exhaust? My back box is of unknown manufacture (came from a Subaru dealership in Liverpool), but is a very nicely made stainless straight through job, it's the standard bore and mates up to the standard centre pipe with the flange joint (much like a Scooby Sport one), do I need to go up to a 3" system or just get a de-cat centre section and de-cat down pipe from somewhere so as it mates up. I would like to do this before getting the Tek3 done as you recommend.

I do have a spare 3 port control valve available (rally car spare) to hand so all I will need is some rubber tube to pipe it up.

It would be nice to get rid of that hessitation at least and make the power curve smoother. As I see it, getting the TEK3 in the group purchase is only going to cost me the same as a one off Tek2 purchase on my own?

Any advice gratefully received!

Does anyone know what power this would give on an otherwise standard Mk3??

Mef - It sounds like you have a pretty good system as it is, so you just need to discard the cats and your in business, thats where your main gains are had when swopping the factory set-up for somthing aftermarket. Just add the Tek 3 to that and your have a sweet motor.

As you said for the price of a Tek 2, the group buy can get the Tek 3 at an equivalant price.

Jamesemt - As per a previous post, you 'could' be looking at 15% more Bhp and torque, drivability will be much improved.

If any of the people from the last groupbuy could post their approximate results, views or any info of how they found their car after the re-map, with Bob, would be great.

OK, thanks for the comments guys. The remainder of my exhaust is all standard so that is what I need to replace to de-cat it, the thing is what to fit and how much?

As you said, give Scoobysport a call, as you want to try and get a system that mates up to your existing one.

Good luck
