LOL @ Pete.
What that's really tellin' us is don't buy his car when he comes to sell!!
He's kicked the sh%t oot it!!
Alan
The first box I had was as much use as a chocolate teapot and burst quite quickly due to all the ragging it was given on the strip m8. N0.2 broke through excessive 6K launches, No.3 broke through excesive 5K launches, No.4 lasted a fair whilst (25K)
once the paddle was removed and I stopped shock loading the gears through launching. No.5 lasted 30K and died due to a serious misselection of gear at high revs (driver brain fade) No.6 though has been well behaved

Lynne..its surprising what a standatd mt75 can take...like me doing an 11.4@128mph on one ....its not as bad as people make out
and as pete has demonstrated he needs a change of box more often than pants PMSL..so yet another point the escort is better on

My input... for what it's worth!
If I could afford an Escort Cos, I'd snap it up... Always loved them. However, at the present time I can't afford the 13/14k to buy one, and so I'd rather spend 8/9k for a newer Scooby
To me, it's just the cost that would stop me buying a Cos Even though it would have virtually no depreciation in a year or so's ownership

Much rather have an Escort Cossie I'm afraid.
As for the black and blue escorts being 500 BHP, 2nd hand info from someone who asked them both were around 380 BHP from the owneres mouth. Usual chinese whispers around the spectator crowd.
PS-I've raced Kev's Escort at Crail, bloody fast. I'd blown the turbo on the Rover on an earlier run and was driving the girlfriends S40 T4, managed a poor 15.1 on it,she can get it a good bit quicker, but Kev wouldnt give me the 4 second head start I asked for, lol.

In response to the original question
http://www.mmcinteractive.com/gmsc/kingdom/2003/incidents.cfm
Ask teknopete he was there as was opelcorsa and scoobylav.
Note the original and proper use of Crail ie with corners

The black escort cossie belongs to andy gallacher, his dads drew gallacher the rally driver from about jimmy mccrae era. according to his site its about 400 bhp but is geared for 130mph for knockhill and crail and does 11 sec quarters. He builds rally cars and was at the last hot hatch day with a wrc spec cossie with anti lag system which was popping like mad everytime he backed off. Unfortunately i missed it.

Alan,
Had you have told me earlier the peddle on the end was a clutch I might still be on the 1st box
As u know though bud, when summin gets broken it gets replaced with the stronger parts which IMHO it shoulda had to start with
Any1 wanna buy a hybrid scoob, so i can buy kevs cossie
Bet u thought i was serious to eh

Kev mine didn't take much to let go after I had the mods done. Might have some luck and be given one [will know Monday]. Someone is having one of the Swedish boxes put in and he says I can have his old one. Will do for the time being and now gives me a donor box for when I want straight cut gears done

Cosmic,
No Kev didn't get this engine from Mr Hadland, the current one was built by Tony at turbosystems and the rest of the spanner work was done by Kev himself. The original one was from martins Mondeo but the new one is much better. According to kev
i remember seeing the Volvo T4 going up the strip and yes she can drive it better than you :P
Regards

In my opinion if ya want a car that is fast in straight line and cheap to tune got for the cossie.........If ya want a good handling car with half desent power for daily use go for a scoob (Not a WRX, a special edition of some sort)
