Harvey, the one I have uses a six speed STi flywheel, the clutch is 240mm rather than 230mm diameter. Perhaps you have the 230mm 5 speed flywheel version?

harvey will probably have the "classic" version but what I find interesting is that his is the same design as your new one. andy f had an AP cover and it appeared the same as the lateral.

harvey's must be the heavy duty AP ,I was on about at the start of the thread

APS heavy duty organic is what John Pye said and I am sure Bob Rawle can check what it is anyway but certainly nothing to do with 6 speeds as they were not around when I started this but it looks the same.

There is only 10mm difference in diameter, but 40lbft greater rating. I junked the 5 speed flywheel for this difference, because I thought I would need it on the 2.5 when it is up to speed.

Hi Harvey, the AP i had was definately not purchased as a heavy duty version of the AP Racing clutch, i am sure that it was a 350ftlb unit but TBH i cant say for definate, maybe a bad comnparison then..

Thumbs up

my AP clutch kit arrived today(cp2000-18),only ordered yesterday from questmead . I asked for the heavy duty version. the one I have is similar to the standard/lateral in appearance.

closer inspection show a completely different diaphragm to standard(similar to mike 555's lateral but not JB's). there is no extra ring, like john's lateral had but there are the "triple leaf" springs around the edge where the lateral had two, same as standard.

the only other difference is with the centre disc, the standard and lateral share 4 damper springs, the AP has 6.

pics to follow at weekend but there are numbers stamped, if anyone is interested or wants to compare to other brands.

I think that this may be the only uprated version AP do now. when I called I just asked for a heavy duty organic clutch, next step up was a paddle, which iirc, he said used the same cover.

it seems that some covers appear different to others. my AP cover looks different to both harveys and andyf's. similar to how mike555's lateral cover looks different to john banks lateral cover.
