Skid Row? Someone say Skid Row? Great rockin' band ! Saw them a few times when they were on the go, that Sebastian Bach could belt out a tune (pity he was a bit of a dick offstage). I think they deserved better but never really got the recognition.

Thumbs up

Top 5 bands -

Metallica - kick started the extreme music era. Summed up by 3 words - 'Master of Puppets'

Exhorder - the most aggressive band ever IMO

Obituary - death metal gods, great lyrics (NOT!)

Carcass - proving that Brits can lead the world!

Fear Factory - techno-metal gods and able to pull it off live as well

TBH, loads and loads of bands spring to mind but these 5 stand out.

Megadeth - Never really got much into Dave Mustaine's lot but was definitely converted after the Wembley Arena gig with Sucicidals, Slayer, Testament (can't remember concert name).
Sounds like the 'Clash of the Titans' gig to me.

Slayer was the first live band that I ever saw (along with Mindfunk) and Dave Lombardo was an inspiration to learn double-bass drums.

Always remember the first time I saw Fear Factory live and they forgot to turn Raymond Herrera's bass drum mics on. Then half way through opening song the sound engineer flicks the switch and we get deafened by this warp speed drum pattern. The WHOLE crowd stopped for about 5 seconds, looked at each other then we started moshing again - ah, great times!

Top 5 - forgot Sepultura, damn, too many good bands to name!!

I used to frequent the Air Baloon in Portsmouth. I remember the Jack Daniels promotions they used to have, if any beverage epitomised rock then JD was it!

Anyone still go to Jilly's? Friday allnighters are not bad (goth room perfect for the tastes of Telboy) and the fishbowl still rocks. For pure cheese though go on a Saturday. The Krazy House (or Slones as it was many moons ago) in Liverpool is also still brilliant on Fridays, plenty of classic Metal downstairs and the kiddies have a new room to themselves up at the top, middle floor is still good for those mates you inevitably drag along who aint as hardcore as you but still like to rock. I myself will be gothing it up at Jillys this Friday.
