HKS Dump Valve Group Buy
#303
So some of us may have the DVs tomorrow then
I've bought stuff before from HK which was sent at 12.30pm on a Sunday and it turned up on my doorstep in sunny Wales Wednesday morning - thats better than some postal services within the UK!
I loved my SSQV on my old GTIR and my Scoob is running a bit more pressure so whould be a bit louder and hopefully get the odd pop and bang too - Probably isn't good for it but hey good to hear it

Looks like some of the ones I sent in the second batch got there before the first lot
About the instructions, yes they are in Japanese but shouldn't cause any trouble as the fitting diagrams are quite clear and easy to follow.
Someone has already asked me about the bolt at the top of the SSQV and here's my reply:
As for the 1998 Impreza fitting kits, these are the same as the MY 1996-1997 (as marked on the box) so will be OK.

The bolt at top of the SSQV is for adjustment of the relief valve spring inside it. Run it for a while and you'll basically get a better idea of how and when it releases. Also experiment to see which is best setting for your car.
Here are both extremes:
Tight Setting: the tighter the setting the more you get on the higher speeds.
Lose Setting: with this setting, slight throttle lift will release the valve.
The smaller valve (there are two valves) releases on throttle lift and is not dependent on how tight you have the bolt so I would say the adjustment seems to be for the bigger valve.

One small Q?
My DV has fittings to run a pipe from the front of the intercooler to the DV mounted on a bracket on the left hand side (as you face engine). I thought on MY00 cars it fitted directly to IC.
Not concerned by this as the pics look just like my car but with an STI IC. Just thought I'd mention it as many people tell one DV to another by how its fitted to the IC on Imprezas.
Trying to get the afternoon off to get the spanners out

Here we go then, couldn't wait till the weekend so sneaked home early from work.
My car MY00 - The lettering on the rear window says "www.scoobynet.co.uk"
Standard valve in position and looking nervous (and very dirty!)
Off with his head! Valve and piping no problem to remove
Angled metal extension piping going on and fitting of bung. I used a bit of gasket sealant for the piping. Probably no need too but I can't see it causing a problem and ensures a nice seal. The metal pipe/hose under the IC bracket needed to be moved down a bit to allow room for the DV.
Standard OE valve and HKS valve
I fitted the bracket initially as it appears in the book directly under the valve rather than under inlet pipe. However doing this caused the bracket to be miles out.
So I fitted the bracket under the inlet hose. Once the hose was connected it didn't catch the bracket. However it was still far from a perfect fit.
The end result about half hour later. Sounds cool too. Its made a clean spot so looks like I'm cleaning the engine bay tomorrow.

fitted mine
Hi guys, fitted mine today the dump at about 2750rpm is longish but if i change gear at about 4/5000 rpm its very short dump. Has any one whos fitted them adjusted them? how many turns which way? or does any one have setup instructions in english?

Nelson...lol..
Nothing to do with not liking it...i aint even got mine yet !
Just a slight hiccup thats all, i really cant get any dump valve to fit on my my00 intercooler, and seeing as my car is a 98, it just wont go.
So looking at alternatives for now.

Hmmm thats a tad puzzling Borich cos the SSQV I had fitted previously was quite a bit louder than the Forge ?? What insert does it have ? the silver one ? I had thought that the bolt on the back was not to be messed with ? I seem to remember someone saying that the bolt on the back was set up ready for that particular car I could be wrong of course ? Anyone else got any ideas ?

the only bolt i can see to adjust is the one at the back. did it to both extremes and all i get is chrip that ain't that loud.. the forge one is over twice as loud. am i being really stupid?
