Thanks for the info, when I eventually get mine back, I am putting in a blackjax, do you think it is worth installing cameras, does this or anything else seem to deter them?
regards

Hi
I was wondering about a Blackjax myself, but not sure how they work and how effective. I imagine the tea leaves could give you car a bit of grief if it packed up on them during their get away. So maybe it would be less hassle to sit back and let the tracker do it's thing. Then again, if they park it in a container would the tracker work? Oh god, you can go round in circles with this!

matt,
TBH, I don't reckon outside cameras would be worth it as the ***** will just cover their faces.
I'd just follow some of the great advice already posted by members of the forum, ie, disklok, tracker, and deffo blackjax.
Leave your keys in an obvious place downstairs, but out of sight of the doors/windows.
Get the house alarmed, and leave the entire downstairs armed when you go to bed.
Have a phone upstairs, and a mobile by the bed as back up in case they cut the wires.
If they break in and take the car, they won't want to hang around with the house alarm waking up the entire neighborhood, they'll grab the keys and do one.
Just phone 999 and tell the police the car will have stopped down the road with its lights flashing, then call tracker.
Chances are mate, lightning won't strike twice, but if its any consolation, all the car theives I lock up tend to 'hurt' themselves during the struggle
For your info, most of Merseyside Police vehicles are now tracker equipped...
Hope this helps...

A similar - but with less serious results - happened to me before Christmas.
9:45 PM I was upstairs when I heard a bang, went downstairs and looked round outside. When I turned to go back into the house I saw the door handle was bent out at the bottom. Called the coppers and had another look around. The next door neighbours security light was on, so I went round to see if anyone had tried his door. As I was talking to him the thieving sack of S*IT came creeping back up my garden!
Red mist set in and I chased the s*itcake down the garden, where his mate was hiding. They both legged it through the woods at the bottom of the garden. I was prepared to tackle one, but not two of them.
The coppers arrived within a few minutes and spent a good deal of time looking for the t*ats - no joy.
I have since had to spend a bloody fortune on new home security - luckily my cousin fit the UPV doors for us so they held up OK.
The coppers were great, but it's crap that you cannot have your own property without some t*at trying to nick it.

if you see these types, ring 999 and tell the operator that they are actually trying to break into vehicles in your road and that you can see them.

juan,
Got to just use your judgement mate...generally speaking, theiving tw@ts tend to stick out like a sore thumb, if they check out okay with the cops, stick to your story: "oh well, maybe they were just having a look at the car then, thanks anyway officer..."
I know the cops get a hard time on here (Traffic deserve it, lol), but we all love to get to grips with car theives, we ain't in the business of 'doing' people for trying to take the scum off the streets
