Audi S4 vs M3 - Which should I go for ?
#31
the S4 is an understated car...i like that..it means it does a hell of a lot more than its face tells you..i always look for this in my cars...
i still think you can't go far wrong with an M5 or an RS4.
i am not a fan of m3's in any guise.

Flat; you're better off with the Audi for practicality reasons.
Having an M3 does strange things to a man (besides making them think they are a driving god). Since owning one for 4mnths I've managed to defy all normal methods of contraception.

Thanks spud, i really liked the smg when the tension was dialed right up Bit jerky for some though!
I just dont know what to get, im stuck with either 996 or M3. Both would be 35k ish.

Flat,
The tiptronic box is excellent for commuting. It really is a case of switch on and go. I probably do 99% of my motoring in auto. The other 1% is relly down to when the car is near a gear change e.g. doing 40mph the car stays in 4th longer than I would so sometimes I knock it into manual and select 5th. Also as I'm used to and trust 100% that on full throttle in the Scoob you'd take off whereas sometimes the auto takes a small amount of time to get the message that you want lots of power so I pre-select a lower gear in manual and floor it.

put the smg mode in auto, say on level 3, leave the sport button off, and its quite gentle and smooth, not jerky, and uses less fuel. personally, i say fukk it, and never drive with anything less than full monty mode
i will not buy a manual car again, clutches are a pain in the ***, and the m3 changes gear at the right time and leaves me to concentrate on other stuff, like staying out of the hedgerow etc
the m3 is a truly fantastic car, its only the owners who seem to get a bad press sometimes. b0ll0x to what people say if u have an m3, smashing car, and im chuffed to bits with mine

Nice one m8e, I'm with you on the M3.
Love not having the clutch any more, also when pulling away at the lights for fun just dump the right foot, none of the will I get it right and go or the opposite.
Took out an STI8 the other day for the misses (she wants a new car) and I have got to say when I had the STi7 I loved the turbo lag then bang of we went but I dont miss it now.
One thing I'm not looking forward to now is the snow (ooerr 340bhp and rear wheel drive) begging the misses to buy the STI8.
