Ok mate, hope you get it back soon, sounds like this guy gets all over the place.

Does your mate really want the car back, after this horrible ****** has been using it?

Just a thought, good luck anyway, Let you know if it comes up north

A group of vigilantes would be dead handy when you catch up with him!

He needs teaching a lesson!

Lets just keep this factual and helpful.

This is a genuine case & there is a proper chance that this ****** will be caught.

We do not want to post something that might be prejudicial to his case WHEN he gets to court.

Also, comments re vigilantiasm when he gets caught aren't necessarily the right thing to say either, 'cos if he ends up with a broken head in the apprehension, then he might accuse the online community of doing so, which further frustrates the case against him.

Help Steve and his m8 if you can, watch this thread & report any sightings but otherwise its probably best not to say a lot.

Keep them eyes peeled.

Thanks

Some more info but maybe a bit out of date:

Dumfries, SW Scotland and there is a `cruise` forum for the local racers.

A black eclipse with silver graphics was mentioned in the `Spotted` forum.

Here is what was said.

******* i was speakin to a few folk last night and apparenlty its 350bhp hmmmm.
looks nice bar the silver graphics but respect to the guy.
******* aye he took me a burn in it. puts you back in the seat with the pure power. blow off valve makes the sweetest noise ever. Oh and he stole ma cd lol oh and the silver graphics are part of an advertising deal he has with the suppliers.

Make of that what you will but there can`t be many black Eclipse`s with silver gfx going around.

jjones - It made 278BHP on the Rev. Bob show on Granada Men & Motors without Nos. It was my wife reading the figures out for the show that day.

SJ - Where abouts did the info come from please? Do you know when it was spotted?

I'd just like to thank everyone who's posted in reply and to all the people now keeping their eyes peeled for the car. I emailed Shane earlier today with the links to the message boards that I know of where this is doing the rounds. He said it bought a tear to his eye and gave him even more confidence that this guy isn't going to get away it for much longer.

The latest updates we have today is that after it was seen in Nottingham on Sunday night (last seen 10:30PM heading out of the city), it was spotted at a travel lodge/inn at Scotch Corner on the A1. It was spotted there at 3AM by an Eddie Stobart lorry driver who saw the flyer in the yard today when he went to work.

Yesterday it was reported in Grimsby with the rear graphic removed and the standard spoiler on it. It was then seen on the M180 heading west by another truck driver who said the plate had been changed to M701 ***. We now have reports that it was in Dumfries last night with the high lift spoiler re-fitted, though we don't know if he has put the N9 NOS plate back on. This would fit in with his mentality of showing off. Apparently in Dumfries the side stickers on the door had been removed but the rear wing section was still in place, as were the window stickers. He was telling people there that the stickers were an advertising deal with his suppliers.

The police have advised Shane that they will not pursue this car and risk the lives of the thief, the public and their officers, as they know the suspect (even though they don't know where he lives). If you can disable the car and/or the thief please do so, then ring 999 or Shane. We believe there is some cruising going on in Leicester tonight, and Shane is going to go down in his other car to have a look around with some flyers.

If anyone has info please contact Shane on [number deleted]. There is a £500 reward for the return of the car.

Thanks again for everyones help and comments so far, the response to this is already starting to get the interrest of the media.

Steve

Hi just to let you know, this has been posted on cruisenorthwales too.

Well keep our eyes open for the tw@t...

Have you considered asking a national newspaper to cover it for you? Maybe a bit extreme, but maybe worth looking into?

All the best - hope you cath him,

Leo.

Result! Hope there's not too much damage. It's good to hear that there's actually a lot of people out there - people who we don't necessarily know - who actually give a damn about helping get someone's car back. That's what communities are for! Good also to hear that the car-stealing 5hite is off the streets.

That's right guys, got a call from shane at about 10:15 to tell me the Dunfreis cruisers were in Carlisle after it had been spotted. They were following him from a distance at about 30MPH whilst giving the police a running commentry over the mobile phone of his position, direction and speed. They told him the police had sent a few cars to the area and were driving along parallel streets waiting to figure out where he was heading. When they found the correct spot - a roundabout on an industrial estate, between 5 and 7 police cars swooped in from nowhere and they boxed him in. Next thing the thieving scumbag was on the floor and cuffed.

Shane is now awaiting the return of his car to review the damage (internal and external). His thoughts at the moment are to completely go to town on the motor and the exterior as the car is pretty much famous now!!! To quote a phrase "Now me and the mad scientist here are gonna have to pull apart the block and replace the piston rings he fried"!!!!!

Shane has decided the £500 reward will be awarded to the guy from the Dumfries cruise site who reported it this morning to Shane, and then followed the guy around Carlisle tonight relaying information to the police. Top bloke, a job very well done.

That's not to say that an enormous thankyou is due to everyone who read the posts and kept their eyes out, or those who phoned/emailed/posted with information. This just goes to show what the performance and modifying scene can do when they all pull together!!! Everyone deserves a huge slap on the back for their efforts.

Thanks again Steve (& Shane)
