STi - you don't wanna go down the "blame society" route, surely? 
Otherwise every p**ey in the book will be saying that "society" made them steal another car.
I do think that the role of fathers in bringing up kids and supporting families should be given more status, though.

STi holds a valid opinion, the further problem this causes is I am a fairly young man and have done ok for myself, i will now never jepodise (sp?) what I have built up by marrying someone who is going to take everyting I have.

Us Urbanised men are so busy arguing with each other that we have lost sight of the true enemy...
Looks like I will be doing a Politics and Social policy degree if I am not careful. UCAS form has to be in soon so I had better make my mind up what I am doing...

Steady on STi VII, comments like that will leave me no choice but to challenge you to an armwrestle to prove my gender.

As has been said above, Scoobynet does seem full of bitter divorced males. Could there be a link between obsessive use of Scoobynet/Scoobies and the wife becoming fed up to the point of finding herself someone, shall we say, more FUN!!!! My relationship role models will always be my parents who remain happily married after 35 years together. They have shared plenty of good times and bad but have remained supportive of each other throughout. The key IMHO in their marriage is FUN TOGETHER. They will always find new things to do and places to visit etc.. Also, little romantic, thoughtful gestures now and again continue to remind of their feelings for each other.
I think I will put faith in my ability to emulate my parents and forget any pre-nuptual nonsense. Unless I do something totally stupid i.e. have an affair, my fiancee won't even think about contesting the Company.
Love conquers all!!!

Surely it makes no difference if you are married or not?
Isn't it something along the lines of if you have lived together for a period of 6 months or more it is considered a 'common law marriage' & the woman is entitled to 50% of everything?
I myself will get a pre-nuptual because although yes if things go as planned you will never call on it, but there is always that element of chance.
Me being the main breadwinner will have a higher % shareholding in the house etc.
IMO when a 'go your seperate ways' thing comes along, each person is entitled to exactly what they put into it, so if we split the house 60/40 then she gets 40% etc.
I cannot fathom how a court can deem MY inheritance to be 50% hers? I actually find that pretty disgusting that our country is in such a poor state!!!!

Slipped on those rose tinted specs or have you been drinking Biggins. Most women will say that - just wait until the solicitor gets his/her claws into her and is reminding her she can claim "what is rightfully hers". Logic and playing fair go out of the window 99% of the time after a breakup - whatever the reason!

Scooby96 is right, very often the ex may be fine but these solicitors will advise them to go for half/60% of everthing. It is amazing how quickly women change their minds in these situations.

Should you have received any compensation to provide you with care for the rest of your life and had a home adapted for your needs, these too are subject to your asset pot for dividing!
