Definitely interested but just a couples of questions.
1) Has anybody ordered the down pipe with the splitter mod and if so what are the advantages if any of the splitter ?
2) I presume a small increase in the group buy price for the dp splitter mod, but how much or does the price include this mod ?
3) How long will this group buy be available for ?
MY99 UK Turbo (H&S centre + bb)
Thanks

I removed the OEM downpipe from my car earlier and have taken some pictures of the old vs. new in case anyone is interested in the differences:
Profile view
Front view
The OEM downpipe does not provide much of a gas flow for the wastegate gasses - it's just a flat flange. Also, the H&S item is less than half the weight of the OEM version.
The turbo heatshield won't fit the H&S downpipe due to its wide neck, I'm currently considering whether to try and cut it up or not - any suggestions?

Cut it, its best to try and keep some of it.
Not sure of torque settings, but you dont want them really really tight, or they'll never come off. Allow some room for heat expansion.

The torque settings for the new-shape Impreza are 35Nm for the turbo-downpipe, and 18Nm for the center-downpipe. I guess the classic shape is the same.
My lambda sensor rattles when I shake it
I think it needs replacing (the ECU thinks so too).

Too late for this group buy I guess, but I had one of these with splitter mod last time around.
A bit better flow and response / spool / torque as the wastegate gasses don't get mixed with the main exhaust gasses for the first few inches in the downpipe, the splitter plate fits into the turbo exhaust housing and down the downpipe neck. Same idea as a twin down pipe but with out any other possible problems.
Cost was about £25 extra.
Hope that helped

Fitted mine this afternoon - it's made a big difference to the sound. I measured over 100dB 1 metre away from the tail-pipe (it was around 90dB with the OEM downpipe fitted). This is with a H&S centre and back-box. Can also hear the turbo wine on low throttle. The noise while cruising isn't too bad - a dull drone which is easily masked by the radio. On acceleration it is noticeably louder. Also, blipping the throttle whilst standing outside the car sounds very loud.
Hard to judge the difference to the performance as I am trying to drive sedately until I get the ECU remapped - but part-throttle acceleration in 5th seems to have improved.
Has anyone managed to re-fit the heat-shield to the turbo? I was going to cut mine but didn't have anything to cut it with, so have left it off for now.

Tin snips cut the shield quite well, I believe.
Put what ever you can around the turbo, if you have a car with the funnel that is fed cold air from the scoop ( mine has, its an early import WRX ) fit that as a minimum.
Mind out for rattles and knocking as the engine moves.

Got mine on yesterday, notice a difference in spool up, a bit of difference in noise too, just finished it off perfect, was under the impresion that the downpipe came with a splitter but mine aint got bugger all down the pipe?? black r.. i've left my shield off too, got pissed off enough tryin to get the bloody thing off let alone put it back on, only thing i can see it effecting is the brake fluid resivour but that has a heat shield under it anyway, not fussed about putting it back on.

Apparently the splitter is £25 extra - I didn't find out about it until after I'd ordered. I doubt it makes much difference anyway.
Managed to cut the heat-shield using a Dremmel earlier today, may try and refit it later in the week. Mine doesn't have a heat-shield under the brake-fluid reservoir.
The downpipe made a huge difference to the noise on mine - I was suprised. Also, there is a metalic noise coming from the downpipe - more noticable when cold. At first I thought there was a leak, but now I think the noise is actually coming from the downpipe itself - is this normal? I guess some heat-wrap should reduce this.

Sharp,
After mine was fitted I took it for a spin and although it was quicker, it didnt feel like the huge difference I got on my 2 previous UK cars. Possibly because in % terms, the gain isn't massive.
I then did an ECU reset, and it feels a fair bit quicker now![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
Worth a try.
Think the turbo whistle is quite louder on the STi too.

Cheers black r, will try a ecu reset and see if that makes a difference, might be a good thing to do anyway, ment to say that my cluch fluid resivour has a heat shield and not the brake fluid.
