It does have DCCD (Driver Controlled Center Differental) (sp? and I think that is what it stands for) what *i think* it does not have is DCCD-A (Driver Controlled Center Differental with Automatic mode).
It's the 'A' bit that would have made it even better. I'm no expert, so hopefully someone like johnfelstead will explain why the 'A' version is better than the non 'A' version.

thanks for photos and info chaps...I think it looks really good, would also like to see some side photos, unfortunatley probaly won't be able to make it along, so anyone with a digi-cam - do share
For £30k, is it gonna be worth it over a spec 'c' I wonder? (leaving warranty and insurance issues aside of course)!
And another quick ignorant question for my benefit, does the US get a higher capcity engine (2.5l odd)? If so why?

It must be DCCD-A otherwise there would be no point in having it. No other subaru at the moment has just dccd. (Unless i am misinformed). I spoke the reginal sales guy and he said it was dccd-a. Can anyone who has been at the show confirm this?

I like it !!
I take it it's a saloon only tho' !
I'd take one in a shot but it'd have to be a wagon !
Why is every sp. edition saloons only ? Not fair !!

The car does has DCCD-A, thankfully! That is so important to make these cars handle.
I was very sceptical about the colour after seeing pictures of the Ice Blue Euro STi's but as soon as i saw it in the flesh i liked it. It's a much softer colour scheme than we are used to but i think it works. Some people might not like it, it's certainly going to stand out at a Subaru meet.
Engine spec is Euro STi with PPP producing 320BHP, the Prodrive wheels are made by speedline using the flowforming technique which is very strong and light, 18" as standard. It has the PPP handling kit and driving lamps replacing the Fog lamps.
Features not on the show car but will be in production include a centre console plaque to add to the numbered tax disk holder and gearknob, plus a WR1 emblum on the back window. It doesnt have TypeUK badges, just WRX STi in silver with the WR1 as transfers.
This is the spec the UK Dealer STi has been crying out for since the Bug Eye was launched, decent power and the best transmition system available that really sharpens up the cars responses. It's a really good package out of the box for those people looking for a UK dealer suported car.

Yes buts its a girls colour and still 4-5K too much!!!
If it was say £26995 then it would be worth it.
Let the purists buy it then buy it for circa 23-24K in 6 months time thata what I`d do but that colour not very manly is it!!!!
These cars are supposed to be tuff.
My missus would love it.
Are they doing a convertable in the same colour???

Still not enough of a step to divert me from buying a JDM STi with all the toys though.

Me neither.
Thats where my money would still go.
Twin scroll the lot for less and a good remap and exhaust sorted.
In the old days before the mapping was cracked then yes UK all the way but not now

Funny how the WR1 can have the correct Type Approval from new when we were always told that the previous STi's in the UK had to have 265BHP to meet type approval and emissions. It allowed Prodrive to charge us PPP for £2K and remove the restrictions that limited performance in the first place.
Am I just being synical ??

It's not the car for me personally at the moment Tony, but i can see how it is going to apeal to people who would want to buy through the UK dealer franchises. The majority of buyers arent like myself, so for them to now have the choice of buying a UK Impreza that is going to handle and perform in the way it should is a big step forward. There are reasons why the UK dealer franchise isnt going to get the 2.5 engine right now, maybe that would change, but personally i dont think it will, certainly not in the short/medium term.
I have been going on about the DCCD for ages because it is so important, the Euro spec Impreza has a transmition system that is designed to provide a FWD bias. Why Subaru chose this setup for the Euro Market is beyond me, because at worst you want a 50:50 split on a car like this and ideally some rear bias is going to give the best balance.
I would of course like to see the car cost less, i would like to see all the UK range lower cost, but based on the spec of the WR1 i can see where the price has come from when you add the aditional costs involved with its spec plus the time to install PPP suspension and engine packages, which will have to be carried out in the UK for type aproval reasons as mentioned. At least the suspension should be pointing in the right direction.
Yesterday was a great day for the UK buyer of Subaru's, because we have been given two very good spec Impreza's that will cater for both types of markets, the majority of UK buyers who just want to go to a highstreet dealer and buy something that is performant, and the more specialist buyer who is happy to buy from an independant and who can afford a higher spec yet again.
The ideal would be for the standard STi Type UK to get the mechanical components that is now fitted to the WR1, producing this car is a step in that direction IMHO. Unlike the previous special edition UK Impreza's, you are actually getting something that will perform better and isnt just a bolt on exercise you could do yourself, certainly not on the transmition or colour.
The colour looks pants in photographs, wait until you see it in the flesh before making a judgement. Some are still going to hate it, but some are going to love it.

276BHP and a poor power band is not good enough for the normal STi TypeUK, it needs circa 310BHP and a wider power band to start to feel like it should. Combined with the DCCD-A this makes a big diference to its performance and makes it capable of competing with cars like the EVO in terms of dynamics. It should have suspension that doesnt make you feel like you are on a boat too, which i believe the Prodrive kit adresses. I havnt driven a car with the latest spring/bumpstops so dont know for sure if it has cured that.

I forgot to mention, another feature that isnt in the spec sheet sent to dealers is the fact it is fitted with the 13:1 quickrack. I am there again on sunday so will see if i can find any other things that arent listed, pretty sure thats it though.
Interior is a matt black effect.

Hi Tony.
It will be the same as the JDM and USDM STi's with DCCD-A. Front suretrack, electro-mechanical clutch pack centre diff and R180 plated rear diff. I expect Diff ratios to be as these models too, but could do with finding out what gear ratios they have specified. I forgot to ask that.

I have a question - what do you think happens to the residual value of an almost new STi8 PPP when this car comes out? lots of us yuppies are switching - there is going to be an oversupply of nearly new STi8s on the market which will crush prices
