I doubt it will have any impact compared to the normal loss you get with a new car, the WR1 is £5K more expensive than a stock STi TypeUK, £3K more than a PPP equipped version so there is a big gap in price which will limit the number of people trading up so quickly? maybe?

Car to the right is a UK turbo with lots of the optional extras installed. It has a set of 18" Speedline Turini's fitted.

I'll be there on Sunday, i needed to spend a lot of time in the Engineering section Thursday to get some info for the race/rally cars. Thats not open on Public days and there isnt much chance of getting around everything in one day taking that into account.

It's a great show this year, it's amazing how many companies there are working in the Auto and aftermarket trade in the UK.

Not sure what brochures they had to be honest. I'll take a look at the car again on sunday and see what the front is like. I have no idea whats happening at most tracks this year right now.

So when the next UK MY change comes on the UK STI, we can expect it to have DCCD-A, judging by the WR1.

When will that be ?

That remains to be seen Russell. The European market is only getting a "limited edition" STi with DCCD-A this year. Whether this is a preface to it becoming standard in these parts remains to be seen.

Had a good mooch round this car today, and must admit it looks very nice. Colour a lot better in the flesh, pearlescent effect stands out much better than in pics, and makes a nice alternative to the hordes of WR Blue cars. As JF has already said, for a UK market car with full dealer/warranty support, it looks like a good package.

Just noticed the quickrack post. Makes a surprising amount of difference to the feel and you will find you settle into a much smoother driving style when your hands are not having to move.

Took me a lot of coaching to remember not to move my hands after fitting the quickrack to my 02 wrx

Question

Won't the WR1 will be cheaper to insure than an STi8 with PPP, wheels, springs etc.. as it will be a standard car, rather than a mod'd STi?

WR1 is aprox 8% cheaper to insure than an STi8 PPP and no other mods if you are using Subaru Insured as a broker.

I dont get why everyone is upset by the price. It is very well priced IMHO.

STI = £24,995
PPP = £1,995 (and that is for a less powerful PPP)
PFF7's = £1,800
Spring Kit = £400 (Fitted)
Grill Kit = £300 ?
Fog Lights = £350 fitted

Total = £29,840

Then on top of that you get DCCD-A more power and all the limited edition bits. So how can this car be badly priced. It would be really stupid for it to be any less. I was expecting it to be £2-3k more.

John

Thought so. Had the same with the P1 verses a PPP'd MY'00 UK

What a pain, well for me anyhow.

Alex

Does the WRC1 have A/C? For non-sweaty, non motorsport purists among us.

Yes. It's based on the STi Type UK, rather than the Spec C.

Cool

churchwa,
After talking to a chap on Sunday on the stand about the spec, those driving lights are HID @ £700 ish.
SO:-

STI = £24,995
PPP = £1,995 (and that is for a less powerful PPP)
PFF7's = £1,800
Spring Kit = £400 (Fitted)
Grill Kit = £300 ?
HID driving lights = £700 fitted

Total = £30,190

I dont think they are HID driving lamps. They looked like H3 bulbs in them to me.

Regardless, my point still stands. It is good value, and the price should not be sniffed at.

Lets hope they are HID becasue we just fitted HID ligts to an STi (Main lighs not fog) and they looked amazing. We importred them from Japan.
