The whole waving thing
#31
Was out with my friend at weekend in Sidcup, waved at 3 scooby's, she asked 'What you doing?' when I told her that scooby's wave at each other she really took the pi55!!!
Was slightly embarrased - she didnt find it quite so funny when I asked her to get out the car!
I will still wave at all scooby's (but not when she's in the car as my ears bleed with her taking the pi55)

I wave to scoobies, and i drive a Celica GTFour!!!
but i come on here, so i consider myself one of the community...
g/friend wise, she enjoys it, cos she used to have a beetle and they're all into the wave thing.
[so if you see a GTFour waving, wave back!!!]

Had mine for about 6 months now (DGM MY00) and enjoy the wave thing. Used to have an MR2 and they had the wave, but MK1 owners only ever waved at other MK1's and MK2's to MK2's. Nice bit about the scooby wave is you get a response which ever model you're in. Get the odd comment from mates like 'I thought only bus drivers waved at each other' but hey, if all Mondeo drivers waved their hands would be off the wheel all day!
Scooby_Simon, I'll look out for you now, so make sure you do!

I tend to notice that the classic owners are friendlier, me being one of `em! I see some regular ones near me and usually a flash is returned. But Do I feel a fool, i have a courtesy car at the moment, an Almera!! I forgot over the weekend, in my own little world and flashed an oncomming scoob, needless to say I got no response, just an odd stare..
I dont think it's dead or sad. I might start flashing the grannies and form the Almera club!

Best one recently, going along a dual carriageway in the dark about to turn off and looking for the right junction and scoob pull up along side and got a blast of his horn. Must say the impreza horn aint that imposing LOL, I could only just hear it over my zorst.
Had waves off loads of cars some of them scoobs. I waved at a corolla the other day (again getting dark) as I thought it was a MY01 Sport and the guy waved back. How cool was that.

I think the waving makes ownership that little bit more special and helps to separate the marque from more mundane motors, after all it is an enthusiasts car.
I suspect that often when people don't respond it's because they may be concentrating on other things like the road ahead/ kids on the pavement/ traffic lights and not necessarily looking out for Scoobs!!

do find that the new school of scoobys the 02-03 years don't bother to much
might be down to a bit of snobbery??
dont know any one found this to be true

Had mine about just 6 months now, varying response, generally classic drivers do, bug eyes drivers don't seem quite so keen, 03 models better though.
Its a bit odd at first you feel slightly uncomfortable but once in the swiing its great, wife thinks its sad!!!
Cheers

Mine does not move much during the week as I work in London. You might see it aroujnd and about at the weekends -green My96 P***PGO or going up to Grafham Water on Sundays - A505 thru Letchworth (not forgetting :finger: :******: to the speed cams) then onto the A1 and Zoom....)

I always wave and if my girlfriend is with me we both wave. After 3-4 years Scooby ownership it is has become an automatic reaction. This can be a bit emabarissing when driving a hire car on business.
I find the majority of Scoob owners wave back and the ones that don't are either daydreaming (which is rather worrying) or older people in bugeyes.
