SB - some of my 5 are worse than others, but parking in disabled spaces really gets my goat.......

Justification is impossible

Also, the ones who stop in yellow boxes at junctions (especially junction of Charlotte Sq & Princes St) really don't comprehend the impact of screwing up traffic flow....just so that they can get to their destination just that 5 seconds faster...selfish gits.

Yep, know the one - very annoying!!!

Claire, you are giving me grief over a minor off-topic comment in a thread that you seem to have ownership of (I always find this strange, I don't own the threads I create but simply start them ) but meanwhile you are dragging me halfway across the world for a furball that can quickly and efficiently be made into a tasty fried snack You should be super nice to me under these circumstances

imlach, you have loads of stories!!! Whats your worst/most memorable?
One of my favourites is when I was on my bike going from Kings Buildings on Mayfield road downhill into Edinburgh city centre....

Doing about 30mph...

Woman comes out of a junction in front of me without looking. We proceed to hold a "discussion" at 30mph with me on her offside going down road for 1/2 mile.

SHe proceeded to tell me I should be in the gutter as I was a cyclist and was slow. WTF?

Irony? Her baby in the front seat and "baby on board" sticker. I sped past her

I was just joking I don't use disabled spaces or mother and children spaces. I also don't block up yellow box things.

I don't park on double yellow lines because you get a ticket but I do use Greenways to undertake IF they are 'switched off' (so to speak). It drives me insane when everyone drives in the non-greenway lane when the greenway is only active at certain hours of the day

Disabled spaces = fair game... they shouldn't be driving anyway and half of them have got their passes under dubious claims or are using their disabled spouse's car anyway

Mums & toddlers spaces = fair game... you ever seen a toddler drive a car , so that leaves 50% of them free at all times

Green lanes = fair game ... bus riding peasants

Yellow boxes = fair game.... if there's a space anywhere, then it's there to be filled

Yours sincerely

Robert Kilroy-Silk

Question

if i drive to sainsbury's at, say, nine o'clock on a monday night, the place is deserted. so there's two rows of disabled parking, with maybe 1 car in them. so do i use a further away part of the deserted car park or do i park in one of the 20 or so empty disabled spots?

Use the further away spots. The Picasso Club could be out on a meet n drive and turn up there for some munchies/bog/loterry tickets.

Proper Charlie

Don't you know that just before 9.20pm every Monday is the Disabled communities social outing to Sainsbury's in your area.....? Think of the commotion you cause

Can't believe you would do such a thing

I always just walk with a bad limp and smile at the security guards in the car park

This is gripe No.6 - people who park in disabled spaces with disabled badges, yet don't appear to be disabled......you should only be using the space if you are physically compromised.

Oh, and ProperCharlie, yes, they may be empty at 9pm, but the principle of parking in them is still wrong......if everyone did the same, they'd soon be full at 9.05pm...why are you so special?

Hmm...no-one replied yet

I can confidently with 100% certainty say that I have never parked in a disabled place, nor a parent & child space.

To me, those that do needlessly, it says a lot about their morals & values....and reflects their selfish attitude to life in general.

..and also echos eClaire's first line in this thread!

How rude and inconsiderate are some people?

Sipie

Can you explain why disabled people should not be driving, does not look as though you were joking about that!

If you were joking, that is different.

Red face

Ehhhh Leslie .... Hello

Can you explain why disabled people should not be driving, does not look as though you were joking about that!
Notice I signed the post Robert Kilroy-Silk

Surely an educated soul like yourself can grasp that I am in fact being humorous

However, on a more serious note, and now you come to mention it My dad has a disabled sticker on his car and IMHO his Parkinson's disease is now at a stage where he should NOT be driving, but that's an individual case.

Secondly, my aunt had a disabled sticker due to various complaints and ended up having her right leg amputated when she left her automatic polo in drive and hit the accelerator instead of the brake when it started rolling forward when she was putting her token in and decided to smash through the entire car wash, luckily (obviously unlucky for her) injuring herself only .

2 examples where sympathetic GP's are perhaps not acting in the public's best interest

Anyway .... I was only joking and hopefully you can see that if you are up to date with what old Kilroy-Silk has been doing.

Cheers
Si

No problem Si, now you cleared it up, with the help of SB. , it was the "Rolleyes" that fooled me.

I've got one of those too but not being able to walk very well does'nt mean I can't drive my STI classic-fast!

Lol Si, and I forgot to say that I understand the point you made about your dad and auntie, sorry about your dad's illness too.

That ticket is worth it's weight but I did not much enjoy falling of the roof to earn it!

More of this is required i think...
