I looks like this is the normal between sites, the TT sites seem to slag of the Scooby and Evo all day long.

Just got to the TT site and type in Scooby or Impreza.

Scooby 300
Why the hell would anyone in there right mind ask the opinion of Scooby owners on a TT and not expect to get the p1ss taken out of them
If you took the time to read my posts you would see I AM a Scooby owner and I was asking a little bit of advice in the 'other marques forum' for a second car for Mrs Sticks , and I've got no problem with a little p1ss taking

So why not rise above them and have a superior site where all are welcome.

If your mates (assuming you have any) all jumped off a cliff you would too then?

I feel sorry for you.

Sticks,

My suggestion is, get a Leon Cupra instead. Same engine, gearbox, brakes, chassis, turbo, intercooler (not sure about the suspension but I think the Cupra is better) and save yourself £10k!!!

The build quality of the new/current Leon is up to that of the TT (I have driven plenty of miles in the TT and my wife now has the current Cupra T (not R)) and I think the interior of the Leon is just as good as the TT, with a little less "designer" about it and a little less leather.

I also think the Cupra handles better than the TT but they may just be the placebo effect I personally rate the Cupra highly and compliments the STi nicely as the family car

Just a thought!

P.S. Inside the fuel filler cap, the Cupra says 95/98RON so I put the cheapest 95 crap I can find (Sainsbury's coupled with a shop is about 73ppl ). It is the family car after all....

Dosenoffner,

Have I slated off the TT NO

All I have done is stated that what do you expect to get by drawn in to a discussion about the TT.

As you state every TT post ends the same way Why for ***** sake are you being so aggressive on people voicing there own opinions?

It’s people like you out for an augment who keep these posts going and when people do post the normal replies you would expect, you jump in with both feet

And as for me

I have plenty of mate thanks.

You don't know me!

You've never met me!

And you are never likely to

The last thing I want is a sad to55er like you even starting to be sorry for me, I can look after myself VERY well thank you.

The majority of TT's are 4wd. All 225's are and many 180's are. They use the Quattro system.

A handful of 180's are FWD but they are newer models.

Reading the original post he is also talking about a 2nd hand TT, not a new one, so savings of £10k are not possible.

S3 still has my vote.

I didn't ask for an oppinion on the car ! all I asked is can it run OK on normal unleaded , quite a simple question I would have thought !

Def:

the thing is its not just a gay thing its that the TT owner could have gotten a far better car than the half easter egg like a 2nd hand scobby (or any other jap car)and modded it to a safe realible state and have change for a months holiday.

You start with a
Golf then a
TT or a BMW
Until the stars shine and a porka is in your price range.
my 10p is your the sort that says "thats a nice red car" not "look @ that 6r4 metro"
The tt is slow in the long term and short.

def you miuss the point - TT owners (I've owned one myself until a month ago) did not buy the car for performance alone (as Scooby owners do not buy the car for it's looks) but when they came out in 1999 they were extremely rare and had a waiting list of 10 months plus.
I modded mine up to 270bhp through AmD and after adding various other mods such as lowered suspension, koni dampers and a front spoiler, Brembo 4 pots etc....it looked AND performed like the puppies luggage.

Regarding your comment of: "the TT owner could have gotten a far better car than the half easter egg like a 2nd hand scobby (or any other jap car)and modded it to a safe realible state and have change for a months holiday"

Well I surprised a fair few Scooby owners in my time with the TT AND looked 'fing good doing it......we had enough change to go on holiday twice as well....

Respect, chill out and keep your hair on...being a scooby fan seems to have perverted your view about other road users.....never seen THAT on here before

Dose,
The majority of TT's are 4wd. All 225's are and many 180's are. They use the Quattro system.
Actually, no they don't The "real" Quattro system is permanent 4WD and this is used on the range of cars which have an engine designed for rear wheel drive, i.e. a longditudinal engine (like the S4, A8 etc. and others). The front wheel drive cars (such as Golf, TT, Cupra, A3, R32 etc.) are transverse engines and so need the Haldex unit to provide drive to the rear (VAG call it 4motion). The Haldex unit is part time, hence the snide comments about not being 4WD
A handful of 180's are FWD but they are newer models.
Yes, these are mainly available in the mainland EU markets.
Reading the original post he is also talking about a 2nd hand TT, not a new one, so savings of £10k are not possible.
Point taken, though, if he is spending say £14k on a 2nd hand TT, he could have a new Cupra, which is the point I was making (though it sounds like it has to be a TT for her ).

Ta,

Matt

How come they still badge them as Quattros then? Curious now. Certainly plenty of A3 Quattros around now.

All just marketing - one name for VW, one for Audi. Passats use the 'proper' Quattro system and call it 4Motion, everything based on the Golf platform (plus the Bugatti Veryon!)uses the Haldex system becasue of the transverse engine as mentioned above.

Both have their advantages, Haldex doesn't have to be part time - buy a part from Forge and you can set it up how you like. Haldex is also faster at transferring torque and has the ability to transfer more to each axle.

If you're interested in the different forms of VAG (VW / Audi / Seat / Skoda) 4wd, use the link below. Please be aware that we moved servers yesterday lunchtime and are still having the occasional gremlin...
