I personally think the CTR is great value (not so sure about the owner who had to drive into the 4ft of space I left from the car in front after I fairly beat him at the lights when he was in gear and I was at standstill); around 16kish ?
Not so sure as a long term car, I'd be worried about whether the tuning ceiling has been reached already as standard.
Anybody know if the engine can withstand more abuse and be modded ?

Those times on the scan show a MY01 WRX (the slower Impreza of all time, it's sad but it´s true, I had one). Now I have a MY03 WRX and I've made time of 14.5 standard with only a back box!! So... CTR ??? What is that ?? Eh eh...

The new STI is heavier due to strengthening and crash regulation and is nearly 200kgs heavier than a classic WRX. When youhave less power 261bhp and weighes 200kgs more then you dont stand much of a chance in a straight line. The PPP obviously gives the new STI more power (approx 40bhp extra, 25bhp more than the classic wrx) to offset the weight. The power to weight is still on the 280ps classics side though.

Dont know I own a classic but most people seem to like the PPP on the new STI. A lot of Subaru dealers have an STI PPP so you can always try before you buy.

Perhaps I'm wrong. But aren't the Jap bhp ratings slightly different than the uk bhp. The JDM CTR is a little tweaked in comparison to the UK CTR, but I think the power difference not as great as it would appear on paper for this reason.

Anyway, some of us do actually own Spec C's (well when the registration document comes through the post) and know exactly what BHP these cars put out (and its not 332bhp
)

Yup but is it the 16 inch or 17 inch version (there are more subtle differences than just the alloys
)
See if the brakes are subaru items or not, does the car have a center diff control etc.
Some cars are imported as 17 inch versions but are 16 inch with the alloys added etc.

well i'll put my two pence in. i owned a CTR up until two weeks ago. picked up my 04 WRX 2 days ago. so i am pretty fresh with both of them. as the stats speak 0-60 the WRX takes a second off the CTR, same as 0-100 another second. 1st and 2nd i feel the WRX is quicker but past that 3rd and 4rth gear there will be virtually nothing in it, the CTR really moves in 4rth gear which i feel at present the WRX does not do to well. this could be due to the fact its not fully run in and loosened up. my CTR was well run in and quick, i could keep on the tail of a MY03 WRX, so the answer to the original question no the CTR wont stay with a jap spec Scooby, it will keep with a UK WRX. as for handling there's no comparison the WRX on B roads will wipe the floor with the CTR, however on track different story, this is where the CTR is at home. and i know, i've tried it.
