WR1 Whos thinking about ordering one or has

John,
I am confused about your comment on the VC diff losing power. The VC diff loses no power at all when there isn't any F/R speed difference as the whole diff rotates as if it were a rigid unit.
I know this was discussed on 22b, but i would be interested to hear how you think this change in power loss might occur.

Hi paul, there are always some diferences in speed end to end when these cars are driven in the real world, it takes just a small input on the steering, a shift in load or variations in tyre presure/wear F/R to cause it in the centre diff. VC diffs are constantly running with some movement in the plates, that produces heat as you lose energy to the fluid and that looses you power. You can buy uprated centre VC's for a reason, think about why you would need that and you may see how you do get slip and lossed power in any VC centre diff.

but are you baseing your conclusion based on RR results?
However, if there was slip on the std 4kg/cm centre diff unit, you can calculate the power loss for a given speed differential.

Not sure this is the right thread for this Paul. I am basing it on everything i understand (or dont understand ) relating to the merits of various configurations, plus what i have seen on RR. And before you say gearing alters the RR readings, i know, thats why i test my car in 5th and would test a UK in 4th.

i love the fact that everyone says they have sold their allocations - that is completely untrue - lots of people (myself included) have put down REFUNDABLE deposits on the promise that the spec and the reviews turn out to be good - unless it is spec-C quality my 500 quid is coming straight back. anyone who has actually put down a non refundable deposit on a car which still has little real spec and performance information is a nutter - esp since they will never sell 500 first time through. (I mean, how many STi8 PPPs have they sold - not that much more than 20 a dealer or about 600 I'm going to guess)

750 a year is a rough guide to how many STi TypeUK's are being sold.
It wont be a Spec C, it weighs 90Kg more and has more comfort features, they share some components. The two cars are not meant to be the same. Some aspects of the car are better, some are not. If you want a Spec C, buy one of those.

cant say at the minute but no other dealer will get this done it's not performance enhancing totally free as well but it will make them a bit more special if it comes off totally unique to ours only

Hi Colin,
If you look under 'News and events' you will find the pics.
You can look at mine when I get it! On Order, hoping for delivery May/June. Are we having a Bedford meet soon? I will have to come in the van as I hope to have sold my Scoob soon.

I was thinking of ordering a WR1 but have done the figures and it would cost me 15k to change my 03 WRX PPP with 17k miles. I test drove an 03 STI PPP (not quite the WR1 I know), and have to say the difference didn't justify me parting with so much cash. A little tauter and stiffer plus shorter gear change. I guess on the track it would quickly leave my car for dead, but unless you are really pushing it there's not a lot of difference. Plus I think the six speed would get on my nerves in commuter traffic.
Maybe get a second hand WR1 in two years or so.
PS SGT have sold 2 of their 3 WR1s

Scoob99,
I've posted some new pix in the Members gallery (or rather Josh has on my behalf )....WR1 Pix ... they were taken before the doors opened at Autosport so it was a bit easier to get a few half decent shots of the car
