Same argument applies to estate agents IMO. They charge more or less the same percentage whether your house is worth £100k or £600k. Doesn't cost them any more to sell it for you though
They should charge a fixed fee plus a negotiable percentage. DL

I was thinking the very same thing recently. I thought about setting up an estate agency that worked like that where it was a flat rate. Of course in some cases you'd lose out because you'd invested so much time in them, but if you could build it up big enough it would become an economies of scale type affair. The Easyjet of the estate agency world if you like.

Perhaps you could introduce some sort of fee system based on the amount of marketing work done on the property etc..

Anyone want to go into business?!

The whole process is a big bag of crap and red tape.

Currently going through it all - buying, selling, mortgages etc.

I guess it's a bit easier as i'm a first time buyer... bad enough without trying to sell somewhere as well...!!!!
