Please HELP Clutch life poll
#31
Never replaced a clutch on any of the 3 cars owned. All doing well when the car was sold -1st = 45K, 2nd = 40K and current at 50K.
Sidestepping the clutch at high revs at a standing start, is death to a clutch (any clutch). I tend to get the car rolling and then boot it.

Replaced under warranty at 37.5K (2 years) due to the usual clutch judder. Had a look at the actual clutch out the car and it had a fair amount of life left in it (wear-wise), it was just warped like a banana!

I bought an AP cerametalic clutch about 9 months ago and carry it around as a spare if I go to the South of France
I've done over 30k miles on a 'mildly' modded car andd am still waiting - obviously need a lot more power - need a visit to.... 'Rawle the destroyer'

Since everyone's contributing...
Bought my MY99 at 10,850 miles, needed a new clutch soon after but I prolonged it until nearly 16k. Didn't judder after the spark plugs were replaced, but 'bounced' when cold in first (no slipping) - quite bizarre. Can only assume the first owner went drag racing.
Replacement has now got me to 24k and still feels like new.

58k I had mine changed while they did the short motor for the piston slap, and no I don't just go to the shops and back.

I know this is tempting fate, but I've still got the same clutch after 70K!! Just starting to get a bit of judder in 2nd gear when slipping the clutch.
Don't know what type to change to, though.
Cheers,
Andy

Still on the original clutch at nearly 75,000 miles. Mostly motorway / open road driving but it does get the occasional punishment although not in first gear...so maybe I am a wuss afterall?
PS - I've had the 'judder' when cold from about 15,000 and it's still there!

MY00 - 8.5k so far and juddering.
It's booked into the dealer on Monday to have it inspected and hopefully replaced under warranty...however if it doesn't qualify (been told it gets measured and if a certain reading then OK to replace) then I may as well have the clutch replaced but I'll have almost a £1,000 bill for labour & parts

93 WRX, 53,500 miles, occasional faint judder, pedal hangs up on upward stroke, but when hot the clutch fluid boils and I can only get 1st/2nd (when really bad :mad and the thrust bearing screams awful noises at me
Suppose I ought to get it replaced

I'm on 26k still going strong, but has judder. Cheam motors has told me that to get it done under warranty they need to check it first, but if it fails then I will be lumbered with a £350 bill for nothing, or have the clutch replaced which will mean a bill of £1000.
Is there anyone out there who has had a clutch refused under the Subaru warranty?
