ive gone from round about 6'3'' 16 stone to about 14 stone 12. my waist has crept back down to a 'comfortable' 34'' and i look a lot better for it and also now capable of doing 200 press-ups in sets of 50![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
im also the proud owner of some very tight white t-shirts (LOL)
so, to summarise it appears that coke/pepsi etc was the killer and its done me a world of good by cutting it out (also cut back on the beer as well- sob!)
the six pack hasnt emerged yet but its definately getting there and it should emerge some time in the next few months at this rate. rest assured i will inform you when it does!

filterd water has been drunk in its place, i would finnish a late shift and knock back 4/5/6 cans, now its a pint of britta`s finest lol
never really changed what i eat that much, but what i did change was in my breaks at work i would get two 20 mins breaks, consider one a snak and one a main meal, the snack one would consist of me eating a mars bar or such and a can of pop, junked them compleatly, every day ive been at work ive had 2 poached eggs, 2 slices of toast and a carton of orange juice (500ml), it got me seriosly addicted to poached eggs, and now i hammer them lol, but i also started doing press ups and stuff and settled on 50 per day, my job is really physicaly demanding so im always running about between machines (like every 60 seconds lol) so i dont see the need for any more excercise now, and i can really see a diffrence in my body shape, a few other people have noticed as well, which is always good for the ego
never been one for wieghing myself, but my pants are starting to feel a bit "baggy"
![Stick Out Tongue](images/smilies/tongue.gif)
so sumthing must be changing lol, arms and uper chest seam to be bulking up quite a bit, hope the next 3/4 months pregress like the last ones, TBH i dont even miss drinking loads, its all good baby lol
my dads always been big, and i saw how much he was struggling to shift his (on the doctors warnings) so i figured i was gonna shift it before its to late

Instead of feeling sorry for yourself, work on improving your diet and getting some exercise. It wont happen overnight but give it a few weeks and if you're making the effort you'll start to notice a difference, in a few months if you can stick with it, you'll be healthier and happier - seriously, I swear mental and physical health are related.
Forget all the pills, shakes and all that other bollocks*, what matters is your desire to get in shape and your willpower to do what's needed.
I hate formal workouts (read gyms) so over time I took up walking, kayaking, skiing, swimming and I'm about to get on rollerblades. Do whatever interests and exercises you (and if you still can't think of anything, give yourself a kick up the **** for being an unimaginative, lazy git and try harder!
![Stick Out Tongue](images/smilies/tongue.gif)
I'm not perfect either - I still eat chocolate bars occasionally and other food that would be a no-no on a formal diet BUT I avoid junk food and pop most of the time and I make sure there's plenty of fruit & veg in my diet. A good diet is all about moderation and balance - a bit of everything is good, too much of any one thing (or too much of everything) is bad.
s6pra's write up really is great advice, if you wanna get in shape you could do a lot worse than follow it.
Bonkers.

* Exception: If you really need to lose a lot of weight to begin with, something like the Atkins diet can work wonders but even then, you have to have the willpower to stick with it (even more so than just general good eating habits) and I would not recommend something that extreme as a lifelong diet either, it's a tool to lose weight that should be superseded with sensible diet and exercise.

Dave... I don't see alfalfa in your lunch list there
![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Just to add a general comment and sume up a lot of the foregoing, there is no easy way to this, you have to work at the diet and be disciplined. There is no one perfect diet but if you cut out all processed crap, manufactured drinks and as much animal fat as possible you will be on the right track
![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
However, eating properly does become easier when you've done it for a while, and exercise can become seriously addictive (as said above gyms are boring, get out there and run or cycle

following on from daves thead.....i realised earlier this year i prob wasnt getting enough water- a client was a nutritional therapist and got me thinking.....i worked out i could go 5 or 6 days before drinking water!!!! i would guzzle coke, coffee, tea, etc but never just drank water. As you should compensate with water every time you have coke/coffee/tea i calculated that at 6ft6 i should have been drinking 2 water butts a day!
so i now only frink water and a glass of wine in the eve, about 2-3 litres a day and only green tea.
the combination of this and dropping milk from my diet (not even adult cows drink milk!) meant i have lost loads of weight without any other changes and feel a thousand times better.
also i find all or nothing is better- if i had coffee now and again i would find it hard...but i dont have coffee in the house or at work and it never occurs to me to have some- works the same as junk food.

Good to see some people actually caring about there bodies. im 20 and at uni, but still hit the gym 5-6 times a week for my weight lifting. It would be easy for me to fit into the student culture of drinking, smoking and frankly eating shi*e, consisting of kebabs, pizzas etc. In honesty im one of a few people who arnt putting weight on as i get older (well some muscle gets added on unless its exam time
)
The main things you have to watch out for is people around you dragging you down. If you want to get fit, look better and live longer, we have to ignore the comments such as "dont be gay, come for drink!". If you can resist that now and then and hit the gym, your sorted!
kam p.s Eat well, sleep well and drink lots of water!

Update: now 14st on the nose and feeling great.
My diet has slipped a tiny bit but im ridiculously active so im still losing weight.
Although i have been running maybe 15-25 miles a week + squash+ 5 a side etc my weight hasn't really moved for a fortnight so maybe my metabolism is catChing up.
I am sure milo will be able to tell me whats happening

I enjoyed fizzy sugary drinks up to the age about 16. If I ever drink it today I get through about half the can before feeling sick. Isn't there something like 6 teaspoons of sugar per can? Nothing quenches a thirst like a cold glass of water. My only weakness is cold beer though.

ideally when dieting, you should be checking yourself with calipers each week. body composition is the only way u can tell if all your efforts have been worthwhile or if you've just ended up a smaller version of your old self at the same bodyfat percentage.
in a perfect cutting diet, you will stay EXACTLY the same lean body mass and only lose fat.

Yep, spot on i think milo.
I think my local gym is offering a session where you get your fitness (VO2 max), cholesterol, BMI, % body fat etc tested at the minute and i think i might just go and find out.
I have definately lost a load of fat, i know that for a fact, but if i am honest i think i might have lost a bit of lean mass as well as i have eased up on the weights and done a LOT of cardio, hill running, squash etc. On the plus side my arms and legs (legs especially) are looking quite ripped. Just a few pounds around the love handles to go and then im going to concentrate on putting weight on again (muscle).
Next update will be when i hit 13st 7lb, target weight.

bear in mind that bmi is useless (it doesnt take excess lbm into account), cholesterol is only useful if given in context (i.e how much ldl and hdl - and then its VERY useful) and most people at local gyms cant measure bodyfat percentage properly. but it would be good to get those checks done to get an idea of where u stand. just bear in mind it is nowhere near as useful as a full blood test and liver profile from a doctor.
congrats on your results so far btw. the muscle building part is the fun part
