The Link is a replacement ECU (with built in boost control).

18psi! - in std trim! - I was basing mine on Well Lane turbo's rollers after the car had done 1400 miles and it was a fairly cold day

I run a 96 UK with bleed valve (Turbosmart) that's cranked up to give me 15 peak and 13-14 held.(cold day)

So far (touch wood) no problems. On Well Lane's rollers it was fuelling fine.

If you turn the valve open any more, the car farts and splutters badly (and in one instance banged loudly (like a backfire)). So, I can't get over 15psi.

Could my boost gauge be under reading? What is the overboost set to on 96 cars?

Also, can't you achieve the same as a superchip by using a fuel cut defencer (also from Turbosmart) along with their bleedvalve?
Seems to do exactly the same as a superchip but the FCD is only 30 quid or so (same as bleedvalve) or is this EVEN RISKIER? It fits between the MAP sensor and the inlet manifold and "fools the overboost sensor" I think. You can therefore raise the overboost cut off by a couple of psi but still retain it.

In 1999 I hillclimbed my UK94 and needed some performance "Cheaply". I fitted a bleed valve and had it running at 18PSI for a considerable period. For one round the boost was increased to around 25PSI (Hold not peak). This blew the bolts holding the intercooler down.... and blew the IC pipes off !!!

Acceleration was astonishing ~ obviously I blew a piston, but I always knew the risks were high.

Since the engine has been fitted with Cosworth pistons and APEXI AVR-R and AFC to control the fueling. Max boost is set to 1.3bar.

If I'd have known about the "Link" option at the time of fitting the APEXI stuff I would have fit that instead. I think the costs were similar.

As it is now I can't exceed 1.3bar w/o risking detonation so the only way forward is to fit MoTeC (too expensive), or Link ECU, or possibly DTA engine management.

So effectivly I've wasted going on £1800 on a set of electonics which will eventually be redundant
