What a great thread

I had various part time jobs as a teenager.
I worked for my Dad at his motorbike shop, I loved that job!
Then as a contrast went to work in a clothes shop and then a Saturday job at B&Q (where I met Mr.Scoobypreza!)
The job I hated most was working at a pizza take away place.

I wanted to be a famous! Used to belong to local theatre group and thought it would be a great career! So I left school with 11 GCSE's and 3A-levels and decided to go to a drama degree.
What a complete waste of time that was! I got there and soon realised there were 200 other people on my course with the same idea as me. I lost all my confidence and I haven't done any acting since!

I ended up taking some education and psychology modules and really enjoyed them. I got my degree and then did another year postgrad to get my P.G.C.E so I could become a teacher.
It was the best move I could have made.
I'm lucky that I teach little kids at an age when they are just discovering the world and life is great! I dont think I could ever teach secondary!
I teach reception so I have the responsibility of teaching them to read their first ever book and by the time they leave my class they can write.
I get great job satisfaction. Especially when I see the look on "freds" face when he finally manages to write his number 8 the correct way for the first time ever!!!

I started a childrens special needs M.A. last year.
I want to do some research into how new technology can help children with physical and learning disabilities. I’ve been looking at methods of helping children with behaviour problems as well.
I’ve had to put it on hold this year because we are having our own baby. I hope to carry on with it next year.

Mr.Scoobypreza's first job was helping out on a van selling fruit and veg. Never see anything like that round here these days though.
He left school with a few G.C.S.E's then got some city and guilds at college.
He got a YTS place at a local hardware shop.
Then a temp job at B&Q. He worked there for 8 years doing various jobs and ended up showroom manager.
He then got headhunted by a training company, which was a great move.
He's now an NVQ assessor/Training co-ordinator and he teaches people to drive forklift trucks.
He’d really love to have is own business one day though.

I've really enjoyed reading through this thread.
Some great variations of jobs out there.
