I work for a firm of Solicitors in Leeds. Put a claim in for whiplash and the headaches. You do need to go to the GP though to be checked out and if you are as bad as you say you are he will probably send you to casualty for an x-ray, all good stuff for the claim.

Some div pulled out on me 2 weeks before Christmas and caused some front end damage to my scoob aswell. Got it fixed and back to me for Christmas eve so it wasn't that bad. Had to drive around in a crap Vectra though for a fortnight!!!!

Sorry to hear about the accident, but hopefully you will be honest about your injuries. If you do need to take time of work and/or suffer financially then claim, but please don't claim just to make money. That just puts premiums up for all of us and we pay enough anyway.

No offence scoobylou but 'Claims Direct' etc have really (in my opinion) damaged the reputation of solicitors.

oh its ok, I'm not claiming anything extra that I shouldnt
all i've told the solicitors is that my neck hurt for a couple of days and was very painful at the time of the accident. its fine now apart from when i bend my chin towards my chest it kinda tingles my lower body. not sure how to explain it really, feels well weird. can feel it all up my feet, legs, **** and back. but they are sending me to see someone to check it out.
I'm not trying to rinse the system or nothing.
just gotta find a replacement wrx now. found one today and its perfect! only someone is viewing it tonight. if they dont buy it then its mine!

Steve,
I'm in a vaguely similar situation.
August 1st I was knocked off my bicycle by a plonker in a car. Didn't think there was any argument about blame as he hit me from the side whilst attempting a very poor overtake manoever.
Police decide no case for the driver to answer for which I disagree with but I leave that as is and a solicitor acting for me is working on compensation (squashed bike, hole in elbow etc). Driver supplied police with his details (name, address, insurance details etc) so surely no problem there !

6 months after the accident the solicitor contacts me to say that the driver's ins co is saying that they don't recognise his policy as valid. He has now used the MIDIS system to check if his policy is/was valid , seems it deffo was not so now the MIB (for uninsured driver accidents) is being involved. PITA as I can see this taking months yet ! I have his name/address details so a personal visit may yet happen !!

Ok, the saga continues:
Dick face still hasn't replied to the solicitors regarding his insurance details. They have said if he is uninsured then they go to the MID and claim the money off them. However, we need this confirmation from him. They have sent me a letter to sign and send to him, and one to the police. As he's round the corner I thought I would hand deliver it to him and have a word at the same time. Just been round but no one answered so i will go back shortly.
It basilcally says that unless he provides me with his details then I will report him to the police (with the other letter) and they can take steps towards prosecuting him.
Solicitors also reckon that I have a case for compensation over my neck which is still a bit dodgy. they are sending me to see a specialist shortly.
So hopefully I can get things moving smoothly from here whether he's insured or not.
However, the bad news just keeps coming. I have put a deposit on an impreza on saturday and was supposed to pick it up tonight now that my insurance cheque has cleared. but the man has to go to hospital tonight so I have to wait til tomorrow!!! well frustrating.
Also on the bad news list is the fact that this 94 wrx is £170 more to insure than my 93 wrx, simply cos they had my last one down as a UK car!! bloody idiots. this also means that I have to have a tracker now where as i didnt before. So a litle bit more power, a rear washwipe and a different interior, mean that I have to spend £725 on a tracker and a further £120 per year on subscription!!! was not impressed. But im lucky I suppose that I didnt have to do all this the first time round.
Anyway thats today update for you.

Sounds like your claim will proceed the the MIB (Motor Insurers Bureau) Uninsured Drivers Agreement, this basically means that your claim will proceed as if he was insured and shouldn't really affect you too much apart from some extra delay.

The MIB are a body set up by the insurer industry to compensate victims of uninsured/untraced (hit and run) drivers. It is compulsory for all insurers to pay into a fund out of their profits every year. They have extremely onerous terms and will not hesitate to back out of a claim if it looks like you haven't cooperated.

Any other questions then do not hesitate to ask, if not I hope that your neck settles down soon. Just remember that its far better to have a pain free neck than have a few grand in the bank but not being able to look over your shoulder.
