OK, admitting my ignorance here!
What's the benefit of the uprated pump/gauge over standard? Is this a mod for otherwise unmodified cars, or just for those who are doing other things too, such as uprated injectors or a remap?
Mine's a UK98 with 2.5" decat exhaust and K&N 57i induction kit; no other engine-related mods.
Cheers,
Steve

Someone else will know more. I've been advised to get the above as I'm planning an injectors, turbo and IC upgrade.

I replaced my pump when it showed up on a rolling road power run as not delivering enough fuel. Only light mods but the pump must have been getting tired. I suppose that rr session potentially saved my engine. It would have been running very weak under load.
There's also a number of threads that state that the standard reg may not be able to cope with the uprated pump.

thanks to everyone involved for sorting out this group buy.
Just got to sort the fitting out now pump looks easy, but the regulator looks a bit hidden !
Maybe we'll set up a fitting tips thread when we get 'em delivered

Same here - ordered, but on back order, if you see what I mean, due to so many of us running Alyn out of stock.
As always, Alyn had time to run through my questions and thoroughly explain everything to me. Can't fault his service at all, either on this group buy, or on previous occasions.
It looks like I'll be adding other bits to my order too - will this spending ever stop?
Cheers,
Steve

One Tip I can suggest when fitting pump is when you get to top plate disconnect the electrical connections then start engine, this should reduce fuel pressure in system before releasing fuel Line. I didnt do this and jet washed the fuel tank and drive way with Petrol :-)

And remove fuel filler cap, I had the same 'jet wash' problem as the tank was pressurised.
Might also be worth spending another 10 quid or so on a fuel filter, unless you know yours has been changed, thy tend to get overlooked and dead easy to get to. I found it a sod to get the pipes off though.

According to the US service hand book the fuel pressure release procedure is :
1) Disconnect the connector from the fuel pump relay
2) Start the engine and run until it stalls
3) After the engine stalls, crank it for five more seconds
4) Turn the ignition to OFF
Then disconnect the battery ground and remove the fuel filler cap.
Hope this helps.

I hope you guys don't mind me joining the group buy at this late stage
I just ordered a Pump and reg, he has run out of stock again (about a week to 10 days till they are in stock again) but he will still honour the group buy price
Sorted

Hi Steve,
The fuel pump is a doddle to fit honest. Take up the carpet in the boot and pull forward the rear seat drivers side. You will see an oval shape with four screws, take off this cover and you will then access the top off the tank. Start up your car now and then while running remove the electrical connector block on the top, the car will now stall turn over the ignition for a few seconds and finally take off the fuel cap. You have now removed the pressure from the system.
Remove the 3 pipes (no petrol should come out now) and then undo the little bolts around the edge. Now carefully lift it all out, take your time as it is a about 18" long in all and be carefull not to bend the fuel gauge equipment. Once it is all out you will see what needs doing, you won't need to change the wiring plugs as it is exactly the same plug as the standard one, all you need to do is cut the 2 wires that go to a little resistor which knocks the power down to 9v for the standard pump, the uprated one uses 12v so you bypass that.
Disconnect the pipe and slide it from the rubber grommet, re-fit new pump with new grommet and fuel filter supplied, and re-fit it all back in the car. Simple job done should take about 45mins start to finish.
Hope that helps.
