386bhp - 97 UK turbo on standard ECU and injectors
#31
Yes Andrew i do have an EGT gauge and haven't really noticed any increases in EGT at all, which is strange.
The probe is in the downpipe and peaks at 675 degrees.
I never do SUSTAINED high speeds though, it's usually a quick blip and then back to sensible levels.
John,
I thought that myself too. The display just shoots up to 10.0 on full boost and holds there which in reality would stifle power I'm sure. Any ideas why it does that?

That's incredible Rich ! Not the fact that your car delivers 386 BHP with 1.35 bar to the redline, but the fact that it delivers it with the stock 380cc/mn injectors. As said before, the efficiency seems to be incredible ! And as far as I understand, you do not have any timming or fuel mixture controller device (might be a remap ?) !
I can't see how your fuel mixture can be rich enough with 380cc/mn injectors, knowing that at such a boost pressure, the airflow should be close to 280 grams/s !
Have you got some DD logs so we can see the IDC and Air flow at high RPM ?
A record anyway ;-)

10:1 is not so terrible, may lose you about 5-10% power compared with 11.5:1 which is around safe optimal on a lot of engines, theoretical peak power would be about 12.6:1 but Scooby engines tend to overheat if you try that and the ignition goes to pot.

must admit Im impressed.. bit like the legacy turbo we ran 22psi held on.. that leaned out so much it detted though.. 380cc's TD05..
Next map will be interesting
Selmon logs would make interesting viewing..

XNWRX,
No datalogs or wotnot, sorry. It's the standard 97 ECU, so as far as I'm aware, that info could not be obtained by any methods I know of, unless external equipment was "bolted on" which it hasn't been.
My mate Andy also did 340 at Gforce on 380 Injectors last year in 24 degree heat.
Thanks David. I'm sure my copious us of NF is all that's keeping me from det problems too.

Hi Steve,
Yes been to Gforce with this car last year. Got 326bhp @ 24 degrees ambient.
A week later at Well Lane I got 339bhp @ 15 degrees ambient.
I'm going to Prosport at the end of the month, so should be interesting.

Rich... i have a copy of Selmon (basically select monitor on the laptop). We could do a run and log the injector opening time (ms) and the revs and work out the IDC. Also see what amount of knock correct the ecu is applying... load etc.
Might be of interest too you. I'd have to do it after the 23rd tho cos im on holiday soon.... could also buy those bits from Jap that i need while im at it.
Tony.

OK, I understand now. I thought you were using 98Ron only.
Anyway, with or without NF, you should be leaner than 10:1 at such a power with your 380's injectors.
Tony can help for IDC.

Rich,
Very impressive result for a TD05 + TMIC running stk ECU !
But honestly, this injector efficiency sounds unbelivable to me !!!
I was mapping a MY03 WRX last week (topfeed 380cc as std) and my monitoring showed over than 100% IDC for a gentle 0.75b boost @ 6000rpm on stock AFR targets
Obviously, as you run slightly higer fuel pressure, you're injecting some extra fuel with same openning time....
But, a stock ECU is a stk ECU : injector pulse refers to "open loop schedule", based on the MAF/MAP readings... with such a high boost, you should overshoot the 100% limit by very large amounts (i.e. 130% or so...)
Am I missing something here ?
Please share the secret mate
Cheers,
PS : How did you monitor IDC during RR sessions ?
